Bottom line, there is potential for a players org that could have a meaningful place in the MS without a tremendous amount of work--despite the Chi-town pronouncement.:)
Right, but for the same amount of work, they could just run their own damned league. Trust me, you're talking to the only guy who actually runs a nationwide, representative organization of paintball teams. Once you put together an organization of teams with a leader, you might as well just run the damned league yourself. See: NPPL in 2002.

And I'm not just talking about work by the organizers. I'm talking about work by the members. Even the members have to do work, even if it's just keeping track of what the organization is doing, voicing their concerns in an organized manner, and voting. That work is the difference between active members and apathy.

And for most paintball players, the benefits they'd get from an organization are simply not worth the work of being a member. What is this organization going to do? Lower my entry fees by $20/event? I'll pay the $20 to not have to deal with it.

Player's unions in other sports are just another type of worker's union. Paintball teams are CUSTOMERS, not WORKERS. In sports where the customers have an organization, that organization actually runs the events themselves. Otherwise, you don't need an organization - people will just vote with their wallets. It's easier.

RLMAO....charging VAT the MS at it's best:rolleyes: , had a bit of experiance with VAT in work, in my opion they are just trying to hide a price hike:eek:

But i could be wrong, but i doubt it from thier history, but i'm going to have a quick word with me works VAT accountant.

Also someone mentioned claiming it back, you can't folks unless you are VAT regiestered, it's VAT not Income Tax:(

I don't think so - at least that would be extremely stupid, as I would far from be the only one asking for documentation and VAT number, to be able to claim that VAT back in my own countrys tax system (many teams are incorporated) :)

If they did in fact not pay VAT, they would have the British tax authorities on their asses faster than you can say "evasion" :)

Right folks, the skinny of it is the MS have to pay VAT as it's a UK comp:(

But if your team is VAT reg you can claim it back & if you are a non UK team & in part of the EU & you provide the MS with your VAT number the MS don't have to charge you the VAT for the legs outside of the UK.

So yes i'am eating a big piece of humble pie...

I for one will be requiring documentation from the MS, that the VAT is being reported to the UK government and paid - which is well within my legal rights, when a company charges my company VAT :)
Happily, my company is a EU VAT registered intra-trader (or whatever is the correct tranlsation into English) so I'll make them bill the company instead of the team and get off the VAT thingie.

VAT changes from country to country. Here is just a 16% not sure if there are countries with lower VAT fee if there are... am I the only one that sees a business opportunity here?
