NIALL: more info please

Niall,

seems like a good idea, we might as well as our captain or one of our players might be interested...

but before that, what do you think about the structure of the comitee?

1- how many people?

2- will there be a certain time, table where people get together?

3- organizators involved or not??

and here are my opinions:

1- all ranks must be represented (pro Am and novice) by equal number.

2- members must be elected or selected from different nations with experience and common sense.

3- I think some of the organizers must be involved since they are familiar with the cheating and problems that has occured in past years.

4- must be effective not only for millennium but NPPL as well since I think it is time to see an international standard in our game. both in rules and game itself (for example 7 man only)

these are the thngs I wanna ask and share please let me know your opinion...

THANKS BUT I THINK WE ARE THERE NOW

but before that, what do you think about the structure of the comitee?

1- how many people?

FIVE

2- will there be a certain time, table where people get together?

THE INTERNET

3- organizators involved or not??

DEFINITELY NOT

and here are my opinions:

1- all ranks must be represented (pro Am and novice) by equal number.

DONE >>>ONE PRO, 2 AMS, ONE NOVICE , ONE JUDGE/LAWYER

2- members must be elected or selected from different nations with experience and common sense.

DENMARK,SCOTLAND, ENGLAND, FRANCE, GERMANY

3- I think some of the organizers must be involved since they are familiar with the cheating and problems that has occured in past years.

THE PLAYERS KNOW AS MUCH ABOUT THE CHEATS AS DO THE ORGANISERS

4- must be effective not only for millennium but NPPL as well since I think it is time to see an international standard in our game. both in rules and game itself (for example 7 man only)

I AGREE> BUT YOU TRY GETTING A US PROMOTER TO ADOPT THE SEVEN MAN FORMAT>>LESS INSCRIPTION MONEY

these are the thngs I wanna ask and share please let me know your opinion...

on point 4, why not write the international rules, allowing for 5,7 or 10 person format games ? The procedures for starting, ending games, chroning, dead zones should be independant of the number of players (ok, you need at least one player
:) )

the point on putting the game in one format has nothing to do with the rules, chrono or etc. they are already nearly the same...

the point of doing is, if we are planning to move our sport into a upper level, we should set some standards.

for example soccer... in UK it is an 11 man game, same as in Turkey, germany or cambodia or ROW.

if this is a sport, if we have a standard field (size not bunker shapes which is good cos its mre unpredictible and exciting) if we have teams and jerseys and rule books this should be done as well...

yes but Nial pointed out that in the US the 10 man format is popular as the organiser gets more money and there are simply more players. In the UK, 5 man events are common. 7 person events are becoming more popular, but 10 man are very rare - there was a 10 man a couple of months ago in the uk, most teams had to join with other teams, or find players to make up a side.

So we have common rules, chrono, barricade sizes etc. but allow the number of players and field size to vary depending on the number of players, then we allow everyone to play. When paintball is bigger (cheaper) we could then standarise on 10 person teams, but at the moment many countries dont have the player base to support this.

Sorry, but the "10 player generates more revenue for a promoter" seems flawed to me ...

If the States were to move to a standard of 7 player ... yes the team entry will probably drop a bit, but there would be an increase in the number of teams entering to compensate for this revenue loss.

Or am I missing something ....

Do you really want me to answer that? :)

In terms of team numbers/team sizes and the relation of revenue to these factors, remember when we were going from five man to seven Marty? The number of teams able to attend fell of shortly to start, but has risen as teams get used to it...

But as far as "smaller teams equals more teams", doesn't more teams increase headaches? More games to organise, or less games per team, time constraints.

I'd hoped adoption of European based standards of Paintball (Mainly the seven man format) would make it to the mainstream before the NPPL's 10-man game. It certainly seemed like a race a while back. The first to TV would have an advantage as the defacto standard. Has the NPPL/PSP split done anything to harm its future, or advance the march of "European" ball?

Cheers,
