So does anyone else share this view?

If you were there would you go back?

Would you recommend it to others?

Were there anythings that needed addressing in your eyes? Lets assume for now that we all get early notice to shop for travel and that the local paint storage issues are not repeated

I'm probably opening up a whole can of worms here but I'm curious to see the response. Please keep on topic though!!1

sorry I should have added lets concentrate on Turkey rather than bashing the MS for all their failings this year.

But one question - how is Bitburg easier to get to without a car than Campaign where you have a train station 2 miles from the site?

However interesting that you day you saw the pics and definately want to go next year.

Well I weren´t there so maybe my oppinion is not taken that much into account hehe, BUT will say that no matter how early we know if it is Turkey or not the travelling cost will NOT be low from Scandinavia at least.... I checked flights the first time the rumours started reg. Turkey and still we were looking at min. 340 € / 300 £ return flight.... I even looked into driving to Germany and catch a flight there to save some money !

BUT yeah the venue looks great from photos, wondering though if they can host the normal amount of teams attending a Mill. event - how many fields were there now, only 4 right ?

Also wondering if it´s correct what some people have mentioned that only paintballers were allowed on site ?

And - how was it with the netting/spectators/coaching ? The pics seem to show no place between fence and netting for coaching ?

Would there be room enough for a full trade show ?

Etc. etc. etc... I´m not doubting this is a kick ass vacation spot - and a kick ass spot to combine paintball and vacation. But I am wondering if they could actually host a full sized Mill. event ?

Which is why I am now asking these questions, I geniuinly am interested in knowing if this could be the new high on the Millennium circuit, cause naturally then I´m personally all up for it no matter (almost!!) what the travelling cost might be ?:)

I also heard that rumor about on Paintballers were allowe don site but I saw general public. Of course only paintball players were allowed into the players area. This did limit spectators on the M5 fields somewhat.

General public came in, but manly guests at the hotel.

Div1 & 2 fields coaching was fine - we had a small metal fence to hop over and then we had a distance between that fence and the net. I can't remember what CPL was like.

The hotel itself had security staff at the entrance stopping people with water and making them leave it outside. Once people cottoned on to putting it inside your kit bags this went away. Of note here though the guests staying at that hotel were supposed to get drinks as part of their all inclusive, like we did during set up days, but suddenly the hotel changed it's mind and everyone was charged.

I know the MS fell foul of this for the Referee lunches too. The hotel tried to charge them 7 Euro a head for lunch, which shoudl have been part of the all inclusive! I think a number of them took a walk across the road back to the main part of the hotel and ate in the buffet restuarant - which is what I would have done too.

Full size trade would be an issue but the trade have other issues with VAT Customs procedures. Taking goods for sale poses and issue but having display stock doesn't. We had originally planned for one of our tents including teh sound system to be there so effectively halved our stand - if most of the trade did similar then I think it would fit.

You could only get 4 fields on there so numbers could be an issue. I have heard some theories on this.

Flights - mine were £300 and I think one of my guys paid £240 and the best deals seem to be the day charters or package holidays.

With the all inclusive accomodation it can make good value. My travel bill for Turkey was less than Paris and thats including flights, accomodation and food. Of course I also had no Bar Bill to pay either ;) For the record I stayed off site at Paris.

4. Turks again - I think the agenst working for the Federation were very good at what they did. Perhaps a little lacking in communication prior to the event but when you booked into the hotel they were ready. I think the "up-charge" of having them handle the hotels was a little pricey considering hotels4u had the 5* a lot cheaper than the quoted price. But then even at 45 euro night that was cheaper than an evening meal and breakfast in one day at a normal event.
Booking from that hotel was a compleat joke. If you guys dont mind getting your personal and company credit details auctioned to the highest bidder then thats up to you. Didnt know if I should have laughed or cried when they asked for credit card number AND security code in plain text over e-mail to some mailbox.
After asking if there was any other way to make the reservation I got reply from some gmail account to do wiretransfer. No I dont think I want to book hotel rooms like that. After that I asked if I could call by phone and give needed credit card details and asked for phone number. Seemed to be ok but then I got e-mail asking to give mine phone number instead. We will call you...

At this point I decided it was about time to just do mine own booking from an another hotel with cheaper room pricing.

I admit I never had these issues as we had made company reservations but I agree that is bad practice. I know one of the rooms we reserved without a card the week prior on a pay on arrival basis.

There is another problem with paying all up front too - what happens if you check out early or your plans change - getting a refund can be a problem. Most hotels they pre-auth your card for a deposit amount that will cover your intended stay an then you pay as you leave.

so I agree something that needs to be worked on.
