the only thing the Russian Legion's new found success proves is that money can buy success.

The Americans have a larger tallent pool, better sponsorship / support for players, and have therefore dominated paintball for the past half decade.

If you take two resonably equally tallented athletes and train one intensivly, and the other only a little bit, of course the more intensivly trained athlete will come out on top.

of course this costs money. Which Sergi has.

Same goes for paintball. The only chance a euro team has to get to the top of the pile is to be better financed, to purchase the best players money can buy with the most potential, and intensivly develop that day after day using the most sofistocated coaching money can buy.

The question is, if the RL have come this far in a year, how far will they be ahead in another year's time?

The fact of the matter is, RL are progressing as a team faster than any other team in the world. If (big if here...) they can maintain their momentum then they may gain a strangle hold on paintball that other less funded teams can never break.

Realistically Sergi can now poach the best player in Europe, he may even possibly go after some american players...

To summarise, the yanks are generally better than the euros because they play more, and train more than the EUros. RL have the potential to be better than the yanks because they Play more and Train more (harder and smarter) than the Yanks.

that's my 2 cents.

EDIT ADDED: Steve, if it works for you, sure, why not? I would certainly advocate using the matches for instructive purposes but given my general view as previously expressed I think making that sort of judgment may not be particulary helpful either. But hey, that's just me, Mr. Unpopular :)
Although the tournament is far from over yet I'm sure RL have taken in a major boost to their self-confidence and some vindication of all they worked so hard for. I agree that excuse-making is detrimental to any person, team, nation or supernation. But one can gain some mental strength by seeing some fruit of struggling year after year and we know how big the mental part is. Euros can be encouraged by the evidence now seen that you don't have to live in America to reach PB greatness IF you plot a course, stick to it, invest heavily and do the hard work.

Besides the fact that this whole RL thing adds some spice and vigor to the whole PB scene I think it is helpful for Euro PB.
