Cool Beak

Be cool to have a chat bro and mull over some common ground. Sounds like you know what you're doing chief.

SKINT: I aint dissing UK teams, we're good mates a lot of 'em BUT 90% of the time the yank teams would hammer the UK teams. FACT. Shockwave ARE a great team and I love those guys but (I'm gonna make some enemies now) 3, maybe 4 outta 5 games against Dynasty would more than likely go in the yanks favour. They have the weather, the facilities and the backing to train and become the world's best; something which we don't have right now. The potential is there but the attitude isn't quite there yet. I myself want our team to up there in however long it takes but without the time and backing teams like Avalanche, Dynasty and Aftershock have it's pretty hard to come close on a consistency level. The yank AM teams now are freakin awesome man; sure they wouldn't be quite as destructive as the pro's but you look at the way the Naughty Dogs or even the AM B team Warped Kids hold themselves and play, it's pretty damn impressive. Us Brits and Euros are lucky these guys don't come in as AM in the Millennium series coz we woulod be well up against it. I'd love a go myself but I'd put money the yanks in the long run.

Us UK dudes ARE getting better but we still have a long way to go. ;)

Sorry dude :D

it just got tee'd up soooo well and I felt it too good to miss :)

Even if we don't get to play each other I would value your opinion on how Thunder is doing so please don't be afraid to tell me what you think (like you would! :))

Tony & Scutty - I think we are in the einflestien (or something) hotel so I am sure we can arrange a bit of a get together :D Be good to catch up.

Al - i got your back.

There is a difference to being pragmatic about the situation and getting your head down and working hard to correct it. And quite another to trying to justify an arguement on the basis of a VERY few good results meaning we don't have to change.

The main point I feel is not that the US (and most definitely not the Scandinavian) teams get more sponsorship/help etc. It is the attitude they go at the game. I keep using Push as an example. Look at the skits of the training sessions. The guys run, jump, slide, snap, walk fields etc in the same way they play the game on Finals day - 150%. Look at (most) UK teams, they amble onto the field, never get pumped up and have more of a "it's only a game" attitude. Now you can't say those guys in Push aren't having fun playing - but when they are on the field, regardless of what type of game it is they play with maximum focus. Now try and think of many UK games where the guys have that kind of attitude - very rare indeed.

We played Denmark and got caned - badly. But it was the best tournament I've ever played as it whacked a big size 10 up my @rse and forced me to think quite what I needed to do to improve mine (and Thunder's) game. I think all the guys are on board with it so hopefully we should see it in our results this year.

From what I have seen of Scandinavian teams, I completely agree with Nick.

And no-one can say that the Scandinavians have as much help as the US yet I would say they are on average better than us. Indeed, they probably even get less help than a lot of UK teams, plus distances traveled to play etc are often greater.

It's all in the attitude and approach to the game and that costs nothing. And I can safely say that the Americans and Scandinavians are still some of the nicest people I've met off the field so you don't have to be a jerk to be successful.

Nick - fancy joing us for a drink at Max? there's a bit of a p8 get together by the looks of it :)
