make sure you have angles thats out of the crossfire but still able to see everything....i look at it this way, pretend your waching supair outside of the netting....you can see everything right :) AND your not getting shot. Make your customers believe your a badass mofo and despite being dainty if they lift their masks your going to kick seven shades of sh!t out of them(not literally though lol). Wear that extra bit of clothing.....no adrenaline, harder paintballs = slightly more pain :p and work hard.

Enjoy it though, it is a good laugh :) oh and get comfy boots.....it can be heavy duty walking round in trainers all day lol

The no adrenaline comment reminded me, you will go home absolutly shattered. You will spend your day running around fixing markers/doing paintchecks (often running more than the punters i found) without any adrenaline we all get from playing keeping you going!

Great fun though!:D

depends on how old you are;
this was taken from HM Revenue and Customs,

What are the current rates of the national minimum wage?
There are three levels of minimum wage, and the rates from 1 October 2008 are:

£5.73 per hour for workers aged 22 years and older
A development rate of £4.77 per hour for workers aged 18-21 inclusive
£3.53 per hour for all workers under the age of 18, who are no longer of compulsory school age

..........................
marshaling can be fun, and punters will just about allways make you laugh at something they do,
just makes sure you keep your site rules and don't take any cr@p from them and if they have a problem with you or anything with the site send them to your boss or who evers in charge at the time, they should sort thigns out.
learn the sweet spots on your fields were you are less prone to being shot, but always expect it (and if you pull a punter for a game or 1 for 1 them then deffintly expect it)

will

Know it's a bit late but can I offer one suggestion that perhaps goes without saying...(though in my experience not always remembered)

Always remember they're customers, even with all the safety and other considerations make sure you have a laugh with them and make sure they want to come back.

Somewhere in amongst those 'punters' is the future tourney/scenario/ whatever player who'll keep the game alive and join us in spending far too much money on kit and paint :D

Don't be afraid to shout at customers and tell them off, im sure they would rather be shouted at than lose an eye. I don't know how old you are but if you are younger sometimes people (mainly middle aged guys) will not listen because they think they know better, if you get problems with them its best to nip it in the bud and tell them they WILL be kicked off if they don't do as they are told.
Apart from that just go out there and enjoy it :)

edit: As cube said, be firm but as long as they are behaving themselves there's nothing wrong with having a laugh with them, they will be more likely to come back, and possibly even want to take it up more seriously.

Punter tips
1 - Safety first - bit of blah blah blah like watch out for trip hazzards etc. could go on for ever but in a nut shell let them no they will be unactrive people with only 1 eye, works everytime.

2 - Detailed instructions before everygame (safety and game rules) - try keep talks down to 2 minutes, custumors, (mainly stags) want to get on with it and shoot there m8s up, minds will wounder so if you have 10 minutes of talking to do, brake it up as you move them from place to place. little bit of humour goes along way also.

3 - be polite (until a rule is broken - i.e - mask comes off at wrong time)

4 - BE CONSISTANT!!!
- stick to rules
- stick to calls wether right or wrong
- be impartial/non biased
- the customer is always right - NO! as a marsh you are always right! - saves eyes!
oh and as a marshall you'll find half love you and half hate you - thats when your doing your job well 8- ) lol

40 quid wage is par - your over worked, under valued, underpaid! - life! you should get discount on paintball gear though!
