My first game @ YPC I assume you mean, same day that Keith picked up his Inferno. That was my second paintball game in 7 years. I can remember when the six pack CO2 auto changer came out and having to duck every time a sparklet was ejected. Was way to expensive then, but I wish I'd continued to play. Lost 6 years of experience, I might have been good by now.
Must admit Andy that if you hadn't got us such a good deal on those Inferno's, I' d be rich now.

Don't see the point of tricked up markers on rec-days really, experienced players already have an advantage (tactics, field knowledge etc..) without bringing a better marker.
Even a slightly better marker is an advantage e.g. if you have a tweaked version of a site marker, and get say 10 feet extra effective range, you can really dominate a game. Even an electro hopper on a site marker is a big bonus.
I know how I'd feel parting with cash to be shot up by a tourney player at a rec-day. I've played on rec-days when players have known I'm a "regular" I've always made a point of going out in a blaze of glory or getting a laugh. What's the point of winning when you know you shouldn't lose?
Having said that, I was playing at a site that respected it's customers and positively promoted paintball, punter-hunting wasn't an option. It's a great way to lose players.
Anyway, there are lots of walk-ons, tournaments and practice days for us to use our shiny toys.

But I'm not a tourney player nor have I been to a tourney as yet. Been to some reccy scenario walkons this year as opposed to just rec sites. Plus I'm new to the forums so don't know enough about what's going on yet

If you've got a marker, mask and battlepack, then there are lots of low division teams that will give you a go. Try showing up at a local tournament and having a look around. It's a great atmosphere and not at all intimidating. Put a post in classifieds and ask if anyones short a player.. the next Elsham tourney should be a good bet. I've only played tourney for a year and that was one of my first.
Anyway, when I said tourney player, I really meant regular player (my bad) anyone who plays regularly has an advantage over one off rec-ballers, particularly if you play the same field.
The biggest advantage you have is movement, a regular player can run about, safe in the knowledge that a first timer will aim at you, not in front.
Very noticeable a few weeks back, eleven tourney player vs 38 squaddies. We won and only lost six players. They were all good shots, but couldn't compensate for the low velocity of a paintball.

i play regularly on punters games with my own gun, i'm allowed to play but i get told to "take it easy" so i do. theres no point going along to this type of day and lighting up some newbee just for the sake of it, i'd rather go down, play ball and have a laff.

One of the problems is some of my friends go infrequently. Why shouldn't a "regular" player go on a punters day? I wouldn't be interested in tournies, if i didn't meet "regular" players who go to punters days, walk-ons and tournies.
Remember one of these punters could your next team mates, we have a duty to promote our sport at thegrass routes level. Eliteism will get us nowhere.
