I watched a crappy made for TV sci-fi film the other day (or as we call them a "Dudikoff"), and they hadn't bothered making weapons, they just used RT's in chrome finish with no bottle. Hillarious.

The argument about Glue Guns and Staple Guns is flawed. Unless there are some really strange people out there, Glue Guns and Staple Guns are not fired at each other for fun and sport. Therefore, it is not likely that anyone would have a leg to stand on when trying to use the word "Glue Gun" as a way of associating individuals who use said Glue Guns with the military or militarian activities.

Yes, we shoot guns! FFS - get over it. Marker or Paintgun are much better words to use when talking about our sport. I admit that when I first started to get into paintball, I was confused by the word Marker, but it doesn't take a genious to figure this out and even if I don't know what the word "Marker" means, doesn't mean I can't understand the game as a spectator or get excited about the sport itself.

Yup, we use markers, the first piece of kit made to fire a paintball was called a "marker" not a gun, and not for PC reasons, it was used to "mark" trees hence "marker". But, if you want to call them guns, go ahead, doesn't bother me. As far as I'm concerned they have always been markers, never made a conscious decision to call them that. Doesn't really seem worth arguing about really. The term gun might get us some bad press, put the sport in a bad light and generally hurt our image. The term marker has no real negatives, unless saying the extra three letters is a real hardship. Plus, I don't know about you, but saying it's a gun when it isn't just feels a bit pathetic.

Just noticed, most of the "marker" players are UK and most of the "gun" players are US.

So, pointless argument really, in the UK "gun" still sets of alarm bells. So probably a culture thing more than anything else. Gun is a term to be protected and defended in the US, it's just another word to us over here.

this is all frankly ridiculous to me, those who approve or are likley to approve of our game will not care what we call or equipment, those who do not approve will not be in the slightest bit affected by the terms we use, i mean, what's next we have to call our balls "paint sphere's" otherwise we make it seem too male?

and as for the cammo's thing, has no one noticed that a team in "player tops" ends up looking like a usa style street gang? complete with bandannas?

what would you find more scary? the army or a gang?
