Ok, i have something that is puzzling me, that keeps puttin me off buying a marker, that is, which one to buy.
Firstly i am a newbie, so i will not be needing any great gun, i would prefer to start off with a less expensive gun. I have heard alot of postitive feedback from guns such as spyders, tippys, and riranhas. These are in my price range, and sound fine. Yet, the only response i get or see, when looking at what marker threads should i buy are - save up and buy a impy or a cocker?

The question is - are they really necessary for the beginner, or will the others be fine?

Mmmm - automag :D

I love 'em as they're very reliable, and you can get a pretty tricked out one second hand these days, plus all the latest gizmos AGD invent are designed to fit on even the olderst mag for the most part.

Try 'em out - all of them. Some people just naturally prefer a marker because of the way it feels when they shoot - and your firing style is going to play a larger part in your accuracy and performance with your marker than you might realise at this point. You may find you're happier with a spyder/piranha which is fine - whatever gets you results :)

If you think you are going to be in the game for a while, and in a mind to try tourney, then perhaps saving up a little for a "higher end" marker isn't a bad idea (second hand market makes this easier on the budget). Comes a point when you spend more adding upgrades to an entry level marker than you would buying a more advanced one with the performance as standard, but you can best decide what you can afford.

Even if you do move on to a top end electro, nothing like a good mag or cocker as a reliable spare in case of disasters!

Have fun :D

you can maybe pick up a cheap cocker

and keep up grading the cocker or get a better marker

a mag is a good starter, they dont cost anywhere near what they are worth but will be hard to sell when you change to a better marker.
spyders etc the same prob, you will out grow it very fast

an impy or a cocker is a good choice as you can keep adding to them....cockers especially, the basic gun is great and there are LOADS of 2nd handers about for little money. if you are interested ive got a nice minicocker going spare just havnt had time to take photos yet. around £250 and has a fair few mods done already....great gun. let me know if you want more details

IMHO, if you're just starting out, a Spyder or Tippmann is a good choice. They're reliable, easy to maintain and have enough performance to play in most rec/walk-on games and lower-level tournaments. If you move on to bigger and better guns, you can always keep your Spyder as a back-up.

The money you save on buying the gun can be spent on other things you'll need to play - a good set of goggles, a better barrel and a compressed air tank (instead of CO2). Then focus your spending on paint and play fees until you feel it's time to upgrade. By then, you should have a better idea of the kind of gun you want.

If you already know you're going to get into tournaments, then I'd go for a used mag or cocker. They have better base performance than a Spyder or Tippmann, and lots of upgrades.
