if we are talking about academy day, then my hefty tool kit, the site vice, and about 60 paintballers might will be available.
OK, I had no doubt about the plentiful supply of brute force and bloody ignorance required, but was less sure about the tools bit ;)

On a (only slightly) different note, is fitting a regulator to an HPA bottle the same affair as a valve on a CO2 bottle? Can I be confident, having fitted CO2 bottles and never killed myself or anybody else, of doing an HPA bottle?

No, it's likely to be the weekend after on a normal day...

Would it make sense to get a little guage fitted at the same time? Do these measure the remaining CO2 in the bottle or something else?

Rabies - With regards to HPA bottles, as long as you have the right kinda bottle, and a prefixed screw in reg, they are very simple to setup. all you really need to do i locktite the bottle to the reg. (NOT THE MARKER THOUGH!!)
And once thats done, it would be exactly the same to put it on or take it off as a pin valved CO2 bottle.

Joff - um.. i might be about, as might tiny. not sure. Thats why academy is better, cos all the experts (ill call them that to boost their egos) come together.
But , which day is that? the sun? ill see what i can do.

A gauge on the CO2 bottle itself is more or less useless. For a given temperature, the pressure in the bottle will be the same from when it is full to when it is almost empty, since the liquid keeps the pressure constant. The pressure only starts to drop when there is no liquid left. The correct way to measure how full a CO2 bottle is, is to weigh it. Gauges are used either on compressed air bottles (where the pressure is a good indication of remaining air) or on the output of regulators used to keep the operating pressure constant. If you don't have a regulator, you don't need a gauge.

Billy,

It'll be the Sat although I've not even confirmed it with Sparklie yet...

It's not really THAT urgent if I can get away with using a boggo pin valve for a while.

Before doing that isn't it recomended that no threadlock is used on HPA systems and the bottles are screwed on to a hand-tight fit I would double check that?

I could be wrong but thats what I have been told and thats what it says for my AIR system - but it could be different for preset systems just check
