Bump

Ok, I've got some basics up and running on my laptop (or notebook, got warned about that at work today?!?) at home so by the end of October there should (assuming all goes well) be a database online in time for x-mas. register your nice new e-blades :) it is still free!!! (except for your isp charges) come on, give bully a hand in showing the police that we are responsible, we've had loads of threads ( admittedly in foreign parts) about a paintball marker as a dart gun and used in drive bys, show them that WE (as a sport not a hobby) are responsible and are willing to self-regulate!
How many people spend more than an hour a week on the internet? ( I must spend 5 hours a day through work and all) it will take minutes.

Does anybody insure there paintbrushes for the warhammer figures? nope? why its a hobby! Paintball in this country ( I'm really sorry for this to all you organises) for 99% of you is a hobby not a sport, "my drinking team has a paintball problem", sorry I can't say whose that is but they are on the boards somwhere, that is not a dig at them but it shows that most teams ( including my old one) started as a group of mates who went drinking and then decided to shoot people.

for a laugh I've insured my darts! for 250 quid with no excess, my paintball kit (all) they offered 500 with a 250 excess which I wouldn't get back unless they found the bugger.
Darts 10 pound
Paintball kit, Mucho lots, ( new shocker 2 old ones mask freak egg etc.) ( 2 grand?)
SAME AMOUNT OF INSURANCE??

Maybe you are all worried I'm a mad stalker, or if your marker is nicked then you'll be held responsible for what happens afterwards?

I really don't understand? I've had no mails? do people think that this is a waste of time?

Let me know.

John

need to get hold of Tank for an exit
well I think it's a top notch idea - I was going to try set something like this up myself a while back but final yr uni work got in the way.

I'll def be registering my marker, and any assistance i can offer, (be it coding, web-tartyness, or just plain testing) i'll be happy to offer.

One thing to note tho - with the number of aftermarket electro frames for cockers, will there be room in the marker details for two serial numbers? eg my cocker, and my race frame?

Thats a good point...description of marker? Ie type of anno job, any cosmetic mods etc.
How about contacting companies who can etch serial numbers to other parts of the marker...on a cocker, you could easily lose the serial number with a mill, and make it part of a custom milling job, doesnt take much.

Thanks guys,
Flash: re the after market grip issue, I've considered this and I have it in my desgins the only Issue this would cause me is if I moved to alpha dotting the markers as grips would be the logical place to do it, things like old shockers would be quite easy due to the large amount of space in the body, new ones could be done to but the e-blade and such like I have no idea if the dots could be internal.

Skeetmaster:
Re: the serial number, I know two people who if I even suggested a etch of a serial number into there "baby" I'd be dead, but its not a bad idea, I can find a few people to do this, perhaps planet would do this as they know what they are doing,
Insurance, I used to but got out of that game damned quick, from what I know ( i'm not an expert) there are laws that state how much risk you can take on, assuming what hatts said at the PA cup (para phrase "number of tournament ballers hasn't increased for a long time") then your looking at a very small market ( prob about 1500-2000 in the uk, in senario type peeps too), this is ignoreing all the little rules that I don't know, a business, will make a loss in the first three years of operation, so i'm not sure that would work. I wish it would, perhaps bully (master of all legal things) could go into more depth.

Come one ppl .. don't you wanna help prevent stolen posessions being resold & increase the possibility of getting your stolen possessions back ?! !?

John needs support to get this up and going, there ain't much point if only 10 ppl in the UK agree to this!

Right, I'm back and probably gonna annoy you all,

Registration on the web will be free ( on I remember to put it up!!)

Alpha dots, certificates and registration on the site will be a fiver.

I'm gonna get in touch with the two main tournaments I'm gonna be at to see if they minf me doing this at there events.

For those of you who have no idea what an alpha dot is.

basically it is a very small ( bout 1 mm) dot ( cunning huh?) that is in about 5 mm of glue ( I'll put this in the grip frame) with a number on it, then the police will get this and read the number contact myself and say whos is this gun and hopefully I'll say its yours!
However I AM NOT saying that your kit will be recovered and returned, this is a added layer of protection ( actually I think its the first) to see if you can get it back. This system is used on bikes and household goods.
Assuming the nice peeps with the event will let me do it there I will do a quick demo on my own kit! ( cos I'm nice like that! and I'll even make it fair and charge myself a fiver too!)

Any questions mail me wilsonjc82@hotmail.com or post here.

Thanks Will keep you updated.
