I have a script made for a members system to log in/enter all there marker details, edit function....gonna add a stolen button to it too.

Might take a while though to get it all running.

Sure,
if we can get enough people to express interest in it then I'll get it running, philip I assume your making the offer of the use of that script, is it php? as other than that I have no clue!

Mods can this be stickied??

I'll write into PBUK or give hatts a bell and see what can be done. I'm also getting some prices for a certificate type thingy, with some basic details on ( see skeetmasters post) and a hologram

So can I assume thats 4 people interested? damn hatts could be right.

ok new idea, prove hatts wrong, next time in little chef I can give him a bit of stick!

Right

I've decided, I'm gonna set this up, instead of seeing if people are interested, which doesn't seem to work, if I get enough peeps then I'll continue to look at alpha dotting the kit, (I'll do this any events I'm at unless the organisers don't want me too) and the possiblity of a certificate with a hologram. I'm going to be contacting the police ( the my local ones anway) also Planet, pheonix and anybody else who sells markers to see if they are interested in offering the FREE registration to their customers, ( cert and alpha dots will have to cost I'm only a student).

Ok from a database point of view one player can own many markers but one can only "belong" to one person

free for both, in short, currently this is only the web side of it, alpha dots and certs are more expensive and I'm not really prepared to fund this out of my own money.

players who register kit ( I'm going to ignore sites and shops atm that will come later) will be registered anyways as they can only register kit if they are ( does that make sense?)
This is not meant to be 100% effective but look at it this way, somebodys marker gets nicked(hopefully never again but hey) you ring interpol the police FBI CIA MI5 KGB etc and say its a black/ purple marker serial number XXXX but they lose you details whos is it? or you don't report it just let the peeps on here knwo and they find a black gun shapped thing and they ask steve he goes something along the lines of "I dunno" they melt it and turn it into a £2000 coaster.

Mine will be registered. thats how much I reckon this is a good idea ( well all three anyways).

I'll try to get some idea of prices for the alpha dot/ cert soon.

You have another backer :) - I will help any way I can to help get this up and running, and yes John .. I'll pay some money towards the hosting costs ;)

I think both would be neccesary to carry out the idea .. registered users and markers

Also do you think 1 person owning more than 1 marker could potentinally a problem? - Its just somthing that occured to me

oh dear god?! maybe time to change that one!!(only kidding goldy)

Seriously I've got designs and I think and hope I've got a lot of the techy issues sorted, the hard bit is persuading you lot that YOUR kit is looked after and perhaps the insurance companies will now give you and me some better cover ( at least steve bull thinks this may happen)

Spoken to bully today, and he thinks this should go ahead now not wanting to annoy the fellow (as I play his series!) I will do this, and tomorrow at 4:30 I'm ringing planet and any other supplier who will answer the phone.

lets do this, my fishing equipment ( seriously) I can insure easier than my paintball stuff! why? what is a shocker? or timmy try asking a person at work who doesn't play paintball? now ask about a fishing rod or reel? you'll get the drift soon enough.

Well I'm doing it and I've got maybe 5 people on this so far.

I really hope this is because you are all clever and know that thefts will not happen again.

This would be a good start to getting my Certification idea up and running as well.....would be a case of adding to the existing database...best get this sorted before the UK scene gets too big, would be even more of a nightmare by then!
If you need any help mate let me know, I might be able to come up with some ideas...web stuff isnt my strong point however, and money isnt flowing from my pockets just yet!
Ive copied my ideas from the thread so i have them to hand, will do an overview and try and get some definate possibilities typed up.

Thanks matey.
I think I've got all the techy bits sorted in my head, just need peeps to sign up.
I've also got offers of help from Bully ( well impressed!) and I know that a few others are interested, so all we need is the other X number of ballers to realise that this could help them get insurance for their kit.
