If they know that the weather is going to be like that, as it has been for the last 3 years, is there any reason why they keep holding the event at this time, or why they could not have a roof over the fields proir to the event, and during the event?

I get that Duff. but to not make any provision for that kindof weather seems like they are unconcerned about player safety. They could have say a tarpaulin type roof over all the fields, then more teams may attend

The main problem is that New Orleans is 8 feet below sea level. ANY rain is going to turn the place into mush, especially this time of year. Attendence was low. :( It's SO much fun to be in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, though, even though a lot of the fun was taken out of it by the weather and the vendors not really getting hyped up and doing really cool fun stuff. WDP and their Heaven was DIRELY missed. In many ways, things have taken a very sad downturn in terms of the old days' fun and mischief. Xball has taken a lot of the personalities out of paintball--everyone's too busy to have fun anymore, and there's no interaction with the people we all used to like seeing inebriated antics, slaps on the back for tearing it up as an amateur or novice from the big guys, and the sense of community. Now it's all mind your own business, and with trogging through the mud and demoralizing weather, a lot of the fun was simply not there. If you wanted smiles and laughs, it was done off site. This is a BAD change.

But you people wanted it. We have Xball and more subdued, sober, and serious events and quite honestly it sucks.

According to the article on WARPIG.com, Rab bought back the Mardi Gras event from the PSP...and is working on the weather problem.

"While he is exploring options with renovation of the Alario Center's grounds to make them more tolerant of wet weather, he also is considering indoor facilities in the area that would put the event closer to the French Quarter, the heart of the Mardi Gras parties, while giving it protection from the rain."
