Chris, once again, you display an almost obsessive ability to miss the point of my post, I wasn't for one second implying your roster programme wasn't any good, I don't give two sh#ts whether it works or not.
My point was, so try not to miss it this time, you come on here spouting how important you are (Title of thread : Man,Do I rule or what?) and all you have done is some menial little proggy that nobody cares about.
I mean, at least, play one game as a pro and do sometihng in that game, play as an Am and get in the top three, come up with a new technique or tactic that has some practical value for us all to utilise, FFS do something significant and THEN, AND ONLY THEN, if you must, ask us all once again to bask in your self-proclaimed importance...until then, you ain't dun sh#t mate...now that's the point..put up or shut up !!

Naturally I agree with Pete. To take the thread further - what about an answer to my question?

Seems like we have a little trouble (little? like, how about never) answering the question.

Here's another one: how come PSP is the only league on this APPA thing...?

I troll (as in read and snoop but not post much) a couple different boards. And I think that Raehl and Jim Drew both come from the same mold. In the respect that they both toot their own horns, but refuse to see the errors in their ways when confronted with powerful arguments to the contrairy.

I hate to be in the position of defending Raehl--seriously--but I'm gonna do it anyway.
Starting with the easy one; Steve's query as to why only the PSP right now? Answer: PSP in the unexpected position of fighting for its existence and grasping at opportunities to fulfill all the old ignored promises. It's also a place where they can "do better" than the NPPL right now since NPPL membership is the punchline to a bad joke at the moment. The corallary is everyone should be using at least a similar system and should have been a long time ago except nobody was ever really serious about making an effort at assuring competitive balance.
Now to Pete's points--they sound suspiciously like some of Pete's accomplishments and I think we can probably agree that Raehl isn't now nor ever likely to be like Pete. :) That doesn't detract from the things other people, including Raehl, are doing or have done. I daresay the same standard wouldn't be applied to oh, Ged Green or Gino P., now would it? Silly little prog or not it is long overdue and while there are plenty of folks who could have done it, they didn't and Chris did. Simple as that.
I also think Raehl was attempting to be both self-effacing and toot his own horn with this thread but, alas, one needs to be likeable to pull that off. ;)

So for your next act of diplomacy your off to sort out the problems in the Mid-East?;)

Is that not the coolest thing you've seen since compressed air?

Neato. I'll reserve judgement on how cool Raehl is until I meet him. The program, however is long overdue, and I'm betting it's quite welcome to the poor slugs who're stuck with the job of managing the team registrations at major events.

Robbo, you still interested in that email interview? Right now seems like a good time to hear from you again...I can get started on the questions this weekend if you like. Same goes for whoever else is wanting an interview...the next month and a half is going to be insane busy for me, *especially* at the major events coming up...

Pete, it's too bad that the extent of our personal contact has been approximately 60 seconds when I introduced yourself to you and you spent that 60 seconds asking over and over again if it was really me - apparently not believing I wasn't too "scared" to say hi. Newsflash: I'm not scared of you.

Really, I've been around the internet a *LONG* time, and there are quite a few people I don't "get along" with online who I get along with quite well in person (Steve being the notable exception ;)) - I know we disagree quite a bit, and I know you like to throw every bit of effort you can into belittling me, but as you can tell, I could really care less.

As for your list of the accomplishments I should have - I have zero desire to be a pro player. For one, I have a career that involves 40+ hour work weeks and does not lend itself well to 5-10 weekends a year of events, international travel, and still having any time left to see family and the like. For two I absoutely hate the way the game is played at the pro level, although I'm glad to see it's on the path to rapid improvement. And for three (and you're not going to like this)...

Players are expendable. If half or even almost all of the pro players stopped playig right now, including you, it wouldn't matter. Pete Robinson never plays Pro again, the sport couldn't care less, makes no difference, someone else will step up. Jessica Sparks stops fighting legislation, Jerry or Chuck stop running events, the guy who has been slaving over running his own local league that just barely breaks even, THOSE guys go away, and that actually affects other people. If I were you, which I'm obviously not, I wouldn't view being a Pro as an accomplishment, but as a means to getting to do what are your accomplishments. I'd pay much greater defference to my involvement in the organization of the European paintball scene, regular hard-hitting coverage of events, etc, than how I played on the field. But I'm not you.

As for why PSP is the only league using the system right now: I have to start somewhere. The biggest reason is Lane wanted to do it, and I convinced him I could. I'm working with NPPL on it, I'm offering it to EPA, and I've had a few regional/local leagues around the country asking about it. I'll be adding a league in MN this weekend.

But also because it's a new system, and bugs need to be worked out, and far better to do that with one league than 10 at once, because PSP is to a certain extent the "bait" for everyone else (the value in the system is that local promoters can actually KNOW if there's a Pro or Am showing up to play), and because a lot of people out there want to see something work before they'll try it themselves (which is perfectly reasonable.)

We've got the system there, it works, it's a lot more polished than it was a week ago, it's got 1400 players in it, and we're going to put it into practice in Chicago.

As for the whole post in the first place, I'd been up all night throwing in that new feature, and I'm honestly a little proud of it. No, it's nothing fancy, but it *IS* something cool. It was a way to solicit some feedback, toot my own horn, and piss off Steve and Pete. THREE birds with one stone! :)

I hadn't realised that lying had now become part your portfolio of things for me to despise about you..And I will say once more if what I just wrote is not immediately clear, YOU ARE A LIAR !!!

I never kept asking you whether you were Chris Raehl, as I told people afterwards who asked me about the encounter, you looked exactly as I imagined you to look, a scrawny, little rat faced college boy who has 'nerd' inserted into every one of your genes.
You look what you are Chris, a nobody !
I was in no doubt you were who you said you were, in fact, you couldn't have been anybody else, I didn't have to keep asking who you were.
And as for not being scared of me, what the hell do I care if you are or you are not, when you become somebody, then and only then, I might have a preference.
Now go away little boy, don't bother answering me back or it will be zapped.
Take Heed !
