RE-read my post before accusing me of being "out of order". Second line, second paragraph.

I stand by what I say. No matter what the reason, you cannot have players leaving the field of play and getting involved. It's not professional and needs to be dealt with.

I have to agree with this. Although I understand the sentiment (I'd be tempted to butt some heads too if my family were involved), it is a choice you make and by doing so you remove yourself from the game...

As we say in Holland: He who burns his butt has to sit on the blisters.

Or at least needs to learn which end the cigar goes into:eek:

But it's a fair point- I can see possibly leaving the field under provocation but I can't see how you can then be allowed back on and get to the game:confused:

Let's not give him a pat on the back for helping to put a stop to a nasty incident that was getting worse,(who needs these sort of players bringing the sport down) lets just cause more hostilty, (in a professional way, of course). "Off with his head"

Like I said, I can understand the sentiment, I would have probably done the same.
But I would also have fully expected to be booted out of the game.

Let's face it, only in a Mickey Mouse game like paintball would this be possible. Any other sport would have you thrown out for unsportsmanlike conduct.

All of the above is assuming what was said is what has happened. Since nobody has the balls to post up the video, who knows what happened?

It does point to another problem though. Shouldn't the promoter sort of guarantee the audience's safety?

What you don't realise is that it was between points and the reffs stop the clock for it to be sorted out, the game was "paused" in effect so I don't personally see why he wouldn't be allowed to leave the field.

When games were "paused" like this for fixing fields on sunday people were allowed to walk around on the field with no goggles on etc, so surely it means the game is technically not in play.

That isn't the point. It's nothing to do with stopping the game. The clock may have been stopped but the match was still in the process of being played. It is about allowing a player to leave the field and get involved with the spectators. Cantona did it and what was the result? You wouldn't accept it from any other sportsman, even if it was halftime....would you?

It would have been prudent for the judges or someone with authority to pull that player for the game. From where I saw the incident, it looked as though he just dived under the netting and started on someone. I know that is not what happened but if that is the way I "saw" it, then many other people could have seen it that way and many of those people would have been general public seeing paintball for the first time.

ps... I do "realise" what happened as I was there - Just to stop any more confusion.

Cantona fly kicked someone in the head, hardly the same as a player breaking up a potentially serious incident. Cantona should have got a prison sentence.

Agreed but there were repercussions. As I said.. I know what happened but to the innocent bystander they would have just seen a player leave the field and dive into a pile of brawling hooligans and then return to the field and carry on playing.

Thats all I am saying. Right or wrong, the actions taken by the player should have been dealt with.
