This is a conversation that me and my dad had a few weeks ago about sporting colours etc ...

In terms of paintball we look at it as an extreme sport, so would it seem stupid to have sporting colours? (in the sense of having shirts and ties for a paintball team).

This is something I think would look particularly good on the University scene seems as though many teams have colours (ours have colours for ultimate frisbee). Possibly creating something more of a formal event for the paintball leagues that our being formed or events. If we were to hold a weekend event or some form of social event after (because whats university sports with out socials?). We could form more identity for the teams and appear smarter in the public eye.

Likewise with teams around at the moment would it not look more professional if the teams could have players events with more formal abode than a piss up in some nightclub with trainers and trakkies.

I'm sat on the fence with this one. But would like to hear peoples opinions.

There is an underlying reason behind that I know people will know already but having an open discussion about the scene as a whole would be more appropriate.

Ps. And im not saying shirts and ties all the time like some form of rugby team more smart casual wears like polo shirts for teams after play etc ... or if it is a players party more smart attire.

Would smarten the game up a bit i guess, but other sports that have formal wear tend to go out after thier games, Rugby etc. Ballers tend to just go home. And also, most seem to like looking scruffy...sorry, i mean Agg :D

personaly i dont do the paintball scene.
i just go out and play at my local feild.

however i do think that seeing teams in team colours outwith paintball would make people look at it as a organised team sport rather than a babrbarac shootem up game.

Sorry, but it makes no sense to me...
Players from other sports only wear that stuff to formal events. When they go out for a night of good livin', they wear their own gear. In fact, seeing people get sh!tfaced in clothes that represents a team or organisation only reflects badly on that team or organisation.
Plus, if you go out like you propose, you run the risk of looking like a weird sect.

Paintball is a very messy sport so it wouldn't be practical to wear a shirt after a game. Say you play at ancaster and everyone was going out after, where would you get a wash and change if you lived in yorkshire? Where would you store your clothes so they didn't get dirty or creased? Would any paintball player really want to go out looking like an MP? Even if you managed to get clean and dressed you would probably get mess on you when you got in the car as paint seems to get everywhere. Footballers and rugby players have great facilities to get changed in and they don't have paint everywhere like we do and they get paid extremely well to look presentable and professional. Face it, we're paintballers.

Sorry I just can't grasp this at all. I mean if someone offered me a team Tshirt to wear at a tournament/event no worries, but shirt and tie or polo shirt?? Are you serious?

Aberdeen
Bristol University mens hockey team rock maroon blazers and ties with their crest on them.

...and act like loutish morons in my local every wednesday.
Exactly this!

Various Uni sports teams in Aberdeen have colours and do the whole shirt and tie thing and often act like yobs.

Although it does make it easier to avoid them, pop your head in the door of a pub, spot them and leave!

i can see where you are coming from, due to the fact that many other university sports do this, however colours are predominantly within sixth form, college or uni, and generally recongnised only within these areas.

It would be great to have colours for the sports and societies, however until painball ges recognised as a sport by BUCS, I doubt it would make it for colours.

I think its an idea in the right direction though, making awards in tournaments such as most sporting team, most competitive, most amount of maxed games, most improved team etc (just ideas) and provide player awards too like most improved. It would help the paintball scene, and could be awarded in colour style badges for teams to wear.

Just a couple of ideas.

im not toosure about the suits though, as buddha said, if you go out to represent, you have to make sure you do just that and dontact like a p***head and put a bad name tothe sport and its players
