I would like to wait to bitch and moan, until I have actually seen the venue... rather than reacting to a rumour, quoted from some undisclosed source.

If the venue is bad, I'll be the first to say so.... but right now, you guys are all bitching about something that has yet to materialise and based on an Internet rumour.

As for the Real Madrid venue... I don't really see how money could be the issue - pardon me Pete, but that makes little sense to me..... I mean, the MS MUST have known what the cost was, when they sent out the press release, so why would money suddenly become an issue after the - now infamous - press release??

I have no information to either confirm or disspel that rumour... but it just seems illogical that money should be the reason for the change of venue... unless there is internal dissent on the MS board, and they are lieing to eachother internally...

Nick, Jeff Abbott called me form the site itself so I would hardly classify it as 'internet' rumour mate.

Do you mean that the MS lied to the players?

Err... on second thought, it's not the first time, is it?

I don't think the board would do it deliebrately but it may have been put in a position where it put out false information when it wasn't aware of the true nature of how things unfolded .... read between the lines and you can maybe see what went down.

If it happened in the way that's being suggested then trust me on this next point, the board will NEVER allow themselves to be compromised this way again ...... and you can read into that statement exactly what was meant by it.

'A chain is only as strong as its weakest link' comes to mind

Aaaah ok - I misread the initial post from Jeff - my bad

Just seems weird - I was told by Bedro it would be "Grass and XL" - and they have the XL turf, so why on earth use something else?

Hmm - people seem to be saying "Pedro" and "Money" a lot here..... which makes little sense, when we have been told ages ago that the MS is one company running all the events this year.

So, if money is the reason, the blame the entitre board - not just one guy

Had some phone calls and this is apparently what happened with regard to the Real Madrid facility, there was an agreement to use this facility but upon receipt of an email from a person 'unknown', it suggested that if the Real Madrid facilities were to be used for paintball there would be some damage to the grass etc from paint.
These people then got in touch with the people who hosted last year's event and damage to the grass was confirmed, at which point, the hosting of a paintball event was declined.

Now, this has come from exactly the same source as before and so's you take's your pick and makes your choice in this paintball lottery of what's true and what isn't.

What can be confirmed is the following, the artificial turf which has been so successfully used in previous events is not at Madrid and as such, it is desperately needed because of the state of the fields there.
What did or did not happen with regard to the cancellation of the previously booked event site is now been made pretty much academic.
As to what really went down?
I got no frikkin clue as both possibilities have merit and both possibilities are certainly believable.

I tell ya one thing tho, either way, it's a mess and has bought the need for player / team representation more sharply into focus than ever before.
Ignore it at your peril !!!

Well now that the entry fee, flights and hotels are paid for there's not much we can do now about this event apart from try and make a stand at the captains meeting, but there not going to change much at this late stage. but something has to be sorted as soon as possible, we all know that these events cost most players about £500 per event!!!! at least with the next 2 events we know that Paris and Campaine are always good. But at the captains meeting we will have to bring up about having someone to stand on the Millenium board for the players.
