In the captains meeting we were told they were gonna look for a way to make it up to ALL the teams involved. This is only making it up for the teams that are gonna play Paris.

Suggestions? Plenty. But it's not my job.

Clarista, if you are a customer of the Millennium then it's not so much your job as your right to offer suggestions...

You win :p

Just a couple random ones:

1. Give those teams part of their money back. It might be something around 20%, since it's easier for the MS to make a discount than give money back. This would be fair to the teams that can't play anymore events this season.

2. Make the discount either 15% for each event or 25% for a single one. This would make it fair for the teams that can only play one of those events.

3. Or make the discounts avaliable for the next season. Or give them free ID cards for the next season.

I am sure the MS guys have plenty of imagination to think of special deals to make it up for the teams that are not gonna play Paris/London.

The fair thing would be to offer a 20-30% discount on any Millenium event any of the teams wants to play in the next calendar year (thus allowing local teams to get a discount on their local leg of Millenium next year).

* Edit: And by fair, I mean, doesn't discriminate between local teams that play internationally and local teams that only play their local events. I'm not sure fairness demands a refund at all, but certainly applaud Millenium for bending over backwards to make it up whatever shortfalls were perceived by the players.

Problem with the money back for all teams involved is that most of the money generated by the event went into Pedro's wallet. I don't think he is much inclined to do any refunds. I agree with Pete here. This solution means that some people are willingly taking less money, for something that was not their doing.
I do like the free ID cards idea, BTW.

You sure? If that's the case, then nothing has really changed from last year - each promoter should be getting the same amount of money out of each of the events. If everybody just gets the profit from the event 'they' run, you really still just have separate events. And that also provides a much greater incentive to try and cut costs in any way possible (since you get to keep 100% of the cost cut instead of only 20%).

I firmly believe Clarisita is right.

If the MS feels the need to compensate the teams that played Madrid - they should do just that... not just compensate the teams that play OTHER events.

My team is fine with taking the genrous offer of a rebate on the two next events, because we play them both... but I can definitely see how teams that played Madrid as their last major this season, would feel they were getting the short end of the stick.

Such teams should get a cash refund.

Similar situation to the fight you had on behalf of the EXL teams Pete - where they basically said we were not to be compensated, because we did not play an event after the circumstances had changed.

M5 must also be offered compensation. The field was dangerous and and most of all, not even close to a field of the usual millennium standard (not counting the other fields this event ;)) In fact, it would have been more appropriate for rec games... a shame, really.

Far be it from me to defend the MS but there is a danger we get carried away in this compensatory culture thingy that seems so popular now.

Teams pay entrance fees to compete in a league that offers the attendant infratsurcture to do just that.
For the most part this was provided albeit with considerably less frills and bows we are generally accustomed to because of Pedro's shortcomings.

I'm all for getting what we deserve as paying customers in terms of compensation but if we lose perspective in what we ask for then we run the risk of estranging the board, and I would much rather have them in their present state of mind than have them adopting a position of rear guard actions.

I have been one of the board's worst critics in the past but I also appreciate we can get a lot more done if we don't go at it from opposing positions which we are in danger of doing if we demand too much on the back of Pedro's fcuk ups.
