Some A-5 upgrades and bipods below:-
That's us told then, I was about to mention the fact that they're, nasty to look at, have problems running on HPA with the Vortex feed, incompatible with other hoppers, and without an upgraded trigger frame, pretty much as slow as any other mechanical....

But as you love it, I had second thoughts and decided not to ;)

Any room in that ambulance for us Bod? :p

It doesn't matter how something looks, its all about performance, for me anyway.

They don't have problems running on HPA, as long as it has the necessary modifications. A large ammount of A-5 Owners in the mainly US A-5 Owners group do use HPA, with no problems.

I'm not sure what you mean by Vortex feed, do you meen Cyclone feed?
If you do, only a limited ammount of hoppers to choose from is a small price to pay when i've never ever had a break. Not one. My friends with Cockers usually have at least one break every time we play. I have none, never.

And the R/T upgrade isn't that much more than a bog standard A-5, and it is, and i quote from this months PGI A-5 advertisement:-
"A-5 Response, Fastest Rate Of Fire Of Any Paintball Marker In The World."

And i just want to point out that the A-5 was the cover marker on What Paintball Gear.

And all in all, i love the A-5 to bits and appreciate that you made no serious criticisms about it, so thank you.

Heheh, how something looks? Tell that to the guys who'll spend a few hundred quid upgrading the anodizing on their marker :p

One of our team used to use an A5, and he had nothing but trouble with running the Cyclone (Yeh, my bad on the Vortex, when I wrote it I figured i'd got the name wrong, but couldn't remember the actual one :p... I knew it sounded like some kinda hoover!) on Air, C02 no bother...but every time he used air it played up.

Yeh, accepted, you'll not need to change the hopper, 'cos it's up to the job, I'd just feel a bit 'off' being that restricted by my equipment (no, Le-pig, don't even start!)

I disagree with the advertising spiel. Yeh, it's got the *potential* to have a claimed unlimited rate of fire, but an A5 RT is NOT going to outshoot a Matrix or an A4, it's just not going to happen, whatever they claim. Plus, aren't RT's questionable as far as legality goes? I mean; my Electra on Full-auto mode could potentially outshoot anything...right up to the point where Mr Plod puts his hand on my shoulder.

Nah, it's nowt personal and I'm not going to diss them outright, it's a good recball marker, with heavy modification it might even hold it's own in a tourney..but some peeps just don't like them (& yeh, that does include me! :p)....I just thought that the:

"Before anyone writes anything bad about it, I love it" quote was just begging for a ribbing :)

Well, looks are all about personal preference, some people care, others don't. Given that i'm a woods baller, it doesn't really bother me that it looks like horrible.

As i said, with the proper modifications, it can take HPA no problem.

Well, i would like a hopper that is a little better shaped, like a halo. As it stands, the hopper is awful. I fould it to be the worst thing of the entire thing. The front is flat, with no chance of deflecting a hit. Granted, thats a bit flaw, but as for the marker itsefl, i'm more than happy.

The R/T, as far as i'm aware, is totaly legal. The e-grip on full auto is illegal, but R/T is legal.

I would agree, as a rec marker, its great. Cheap, effective, reliable in my own experiance, and others. As for a Tourney, well, there are better.

if your mate's got chopping problems, he needs to look on the bottom of the cyclone, if there is an "A" embossed on the bottom no problem(unles he's broke it" if no "A" it's an early one and they had a problem, if he contacts tippmann on

The Geese are all running on air, no problems at all, in fact its an improvement because the Cyclone was freezing up under severe conditions on CO2.

The A5 is cool and Allen Paintball Products produce a hopper that holds 230 balls so increasing its firepower.

The best thing would be to put an E grip on it then it will seriously spit paint.

230 Ball hopper, i've made one that holds 400( in fact my first one held 640 balls but that was way too heavy.
The men in nice white coats are letting me play this weekend and seeing as my matrix has been giving me some problems i'm bringing my A5 aswell.
You'll be able to find me on the campsite dead easy, big bloke, big beard, bald head, near a very bright orange bike:D :D
