does anyone knows the origins of the phrase "the luck of the irish"? and does it mean good luck or bad luck????

But feels that sentence is about good luck.. isnt Saint James their saint with the trebol flower?? --> Symbol of good luck

Not sure about the origins, but its a good thing..as in jammy. I think thats where a four-leaved clover being good luck originated from as well (from the shamrock)>

probably something to do with the fact that the best pint ever comes from Ireland. You cant get much luckier than that.
