Nick, I'd be interested to hear your views on the following:- Do you believe our events will benefit if the top Yank teams were able to play here?
And i am talking about two major aspects, that of the positive effect they would have in dragging our talent level upwards and also that razzmatazz they undoubtedly bring to an event.
Well, I think on the first point, that it is too soon - if you contruct a reality where the top 6 in the NPPL play the CPL - they will be the top 6.

I thnk it will be demotivating to many if done too soon..... let them get beat up by Joy, the Americans and next year the Ironmen (if that will be the team name) a bit.... and then for 2009 I think the time is right.

It certainly motivated nobody to get beat up with double digits by the russians in the EXL..... and as for razzmatazz, it also killed that, because it was fairly boring to watch matches where the result was a given.

At any rate, I honestly believe it is a pipe dream to get many US teams to play the CPL..... with the current financial climate in our sport, how many team owners will want to fork out the cash for it?

We see a lot of guest players currently - and that gives us the impression that US teams would come.

But the reality is, that those players are paid for by the european teams and european sponsors - not by their own teams.... and I fail to see any US team owners that would want to pay for their team to commit to the MS, except for the ones already doing it (SP and DYE).

I got no problem in agreeing the financial climate is in no way condusive to the Yanks coming over and maybe that is the wekest link in my suggestion chain but hey, we gotta start somehwere mate and recognising the fact they would help us in many ways is the first step.

Yank players love coming across,

Yeah if every thing is paid for them they do mate.

Dynasty could have played the MS and got their spot in the cpl but they have said a number of times it is just to expensive for them to do it unless they get paid to come over and play.

Now in another thread you have said and many others that the pinch is going to become clear this year when major companies start dropping teams ??

Well if the pinch is going to happen then it will make it harder for teams to come over wont it.

I know how you feel about the clinics we do robbo and other's do as well but we try and bring you the best of what paintball has to offer and yet people wont pay the money for it will they ??

But if you sell them a pair of goggles for 400 quid then they are classed as pimp but haven't got any money to play or train.

I see where you are coming from Pete and i agree but i dint think it will be a solution at the moment but it would be amazing to watch.

Markie, I 'm kinda confused here (must be my age mate) all I am saying is, if we have the Yanks over and unlock our leagues then the events and teams will benefit, that's all, nothing more, nothing less.

If the problem is one of lackluster events, then let them come; if we feel the problem is our teams playing in an environment that will inevitable determine our mediocrity, then let them (the Yanks) come.
Tho, I concede, the financial climate may well play a part in this, I am just doing the theory here and in my mind, it all makes sense, whether or not it is practicable is another matter mate.

And if we whant them here, they cant play. it's roster lock remember!

The Paintball Association
Would the Millennium Series benefit if quality American teams was active participants ?
Would the European team's gain something from them being in attendance?

Two questions, one answer that for most of us would be an unequivocal yes.

But as people have posted the expense incurred in traveling over the pond may prove the deciding factor if it could happen.

We also have the option of increasing the prize fund and if we did that would help alleviate some of the costs providing they was good enough to win some.
If the other party who showed some interest in doing their own major series in Europe decided to actually do it, they would get them over, the Millennium series have to do what is best for European paintball and as posted that means getting the likes Dynasty and Ironmen and the Russians over to compete.
