So they're making a favor for me with having a smaller field less time less matches for more money..

Sorry about the dripping sarcasm but the bang for the buck ratio gone south in my book.

No favors. They are serving the European paintball community (and guests) better by giving us a more playable standard size for fields (they varied before). better scheduling (less wasted time) and the same number of preliminary games (10; 2 more than the other major leagues). And they are taking some serious steps towards improving the reffing (at some expense), which is priority number one among most players.

The Millennium series is far from perfect and I am certainly one who makes a lot of suggestions and does a lot publicly and behind the scenes to improve it. But keep in mind that this is the series that got the major leagues onto grass lawns and set the standard for quality tournaments.

Yes, you always have the right to bitch. Just keep in it in perspective to what the others have to offer.

And very often the Millennium board members listen to the bitching and actually respond.

But let's be thankful that for less money we get more games compared with NPPL or PSP. They both have 8 prelim games and NPPL Super 7 charges $1550 for amateur compared with €1200 for Millennium. Interestingly I have never heard anyone complain about PSP and NPPL having too few games. I guess they don't regard their tournaments as practice.

C'mon, Steve. Back in the dark days when you played original NPPL you only played 6 games in the prelims. Your memory goes back that far, doesn't it?:) How did it end up moving up to 8? Did someone complain?

Baca,

Those weren't dark days by any means. Getting to dress to the gills in Realtree(tm), even camo my gun. Putting trees between myself and the enemy, finding crawling lanes, hiding inside of a fir tree, being afaid my breathing would give me away, backdooring someone after crawling in a stream. Exciting times!¨

If I stretch my memory back far enough I think we even had 25 minute games. And I don't recall anyone ever complaining about the 6 games in the prelims.

Maybe peeps started clamoring for more games when the times started going down. I don't know, I wasn't in America then. Don't recall reading any complaints on Warpig.com.

Maybe you can enlighten us on the evolution to 8 games in the NPPL. Was there a lot of complaining? Have you heard people asking for 10 games in America?

(I never hear Americans complain about the ridiculously short vacations there. 2 weeks compared to the 5 or 6 guaranteed by law in Europe.)

So start a movement there, Baca. It will be fun to see a World Cup which lasts two solid weeks. If 5 & 10 survives another year and everything doesn't go to X Ball!

It's no good to take all of the time.

With MS change of game time to 7 minutes, and the increase in entry fees, the perception of the participants is they are not getting value for money.

Where has that extra 30 minutes of playtime gone, and for what.

If you were to take an average of all the games played at a millenium you would probably find that the average time is less than 7 minutes.

It could be argued that it means more teams could be shoe horned in to the rosta, or will we see a sensible cap applied to 2004 edition.

It would have been nice to have considered maybe adding an extra couple of games making 12 preliminary, wow what a shift in perception that would have, more money - more games, and still saves time on a 10 minute game.

Teams do have the right to vote with their feet, but to play Internationaly in Europe, in a recognised series, what are the alternatives.

For what it's worth we will be entering all events next year, and do sincerly hope that things work out.

I have to agree with Blakey there - especially after Colin's post (sorry col - maybe a little biased?).

Colin mentions that there are plenty of domestic tournament series to go play, It doesn't really compare does it?

People want to play European - I know of plenty of ballers who sacrifice holidays, family time etc to be able to afford to do just that! Making the game more inaccesible to the masses - is that fair?

Now not knowing exactly what the changes to the series are just yet, I won't comment on wether we are getting more or less for our money. As others have said - the Millenniums for me is the best series I have ever played, however by a far perfect. I can see these "proposed changes" could allow alot of room for improvement so for now I'm with Nick - I'll wait and see what happens, as I think most of you will! :)
