Totally agree with Chris, Yes he was a good player and yes a few decades ago he was a good man, but that changed when he hit the booze, disease or not we can not hold him up as some kind of hero when he had fallen so far.

He apparently cleaned himself up so he could get his new liver, taking it from any number of others who needed it, and then proceeded to kill that one in record time, and lets not forget the violence and (alleged) wife beating.

I have sympathy for his family and anyone that feels his loss but no sympathy for him.

Call me a prat or whatever, thats my opinion and I'm stickin to it.

May not be a 'hero' to you but he is to obviously Northern Ireland as he is the greatest player ever produced by N.I and to all Football fans. Rooney goes out and has granny sex, still a hero to young fans today because nodody cares about what they do in their private life (even if it is having sex with grannys ) but what they do on the pitch.

Best cars, all the money, the houses, the women!! and a career people dream of.

And he died at 60 before he wound up stinking off piss and locked up in an old folks home eating porridge.

If it was up to me, thats how my life would have been!

GB used to come to my local in the few months b4 his death. I gave him a game of pool and lost, but only cos i was more drunk than he was . He seemed like a nice enough bloke. I remember he always used to drink wine in a coke glass so that any interfering papaz would assume he was drinking water

Besty was prob one of the best ever footballers. he wore his heart on his sleave , and unfortunatley had no one to keep him in check. worked hard played hard , burnet the candle at both ends , and self destructed and ended his Career well before his time very sad sad time for any one who loves football, I loved him . GB
