He wrecked his first liver on booze, got the chance to start over thanks to another liver and he spanked that one too.

I have no pity for him, he was lucky to get a second shot at life, and he wasted it.

Peace

My farther did exactly the same(although his footy skills were alot to be desired), I know what their family must be goin' through fist hand, it's terribble to loose someone who you love more than anything in the world......

Deep simpathy goin' out to his family, i just wish all the press would leave him alone now................

Best to remember him for all the good things he did(like score 6 goals in 1 game:D )

You have no pity? Your a prat.
Don't you know being an alcoholic is a disease? Alcohol is something that alcoholics feel they can not live without it. George best tried very hard to give it up and managed to for alot of months but the cravings just got too much for him.

alcohol is the most dangerous drug available today, simply because it is legal.

he was a young lad from a small country who got very rich and very famous very fast. anyone here going to try and tell me they would not become overwhelmed?

once he played at a football ground in my home town, where 200 kids queued outside to get just a look at him. when he heard about this, he set a room aside and got the kids all sent in 2 at a time for a photo and an autograph. took him hours. when the last child walked out, George followed him to check for himself there was noone else left.

how many David Beckhams and Wayne Rooneys do that?

he was a smashing footballer, and a decent man at heart.

Richard Burns

Sorry to see besty go - and even Mr Miyagi!!

But more upset to hear the news today that Richard Burns lost his 2 year fight against a very bad Brain diseasetumour at the age of 34. Richard was a great bloke, a brilliant rally driver and Englands only world rally champion - After winning the WRC in 01, he was getting better and better when this tumour struck.

I met him on many occasions at various rallies, he always had time to speak to me and all rally enthusiasts - and didnt have his head up his ass like some other sports people which was always nice after being knee deep in ****e on the welsh moors!

He didnt get rat arsed or anything else, a very clean living guy by all accounts, but when its your time, its your time i suppose.

He will be missed.

this is very true, and unfortunately for world football and george, the managers in those days were not like alex ferguson who kept players like Beckham, Giggs etc on the straight and narrow and having a drink after (and sometimes before!) a game was the norm - without modern day managers we probably would have more GB stories.... I met the great Socrates last year (he played for Garforth Town!!) and he always said that he had 7 pints and plenty fags after each game lol!

Totally agree with Chris, Yes he was a good player and yes a few decades ago he was a good man, but that changed when he hit the booze, disease or not we can not hold him up as some kind of hero when he had fallen so far.

He apparently cleaned himself up so he could get his new liver, taking it from any number of others who needed it, and then proceeded to kill that one in record time, and lets not forget the violence and (alleged) wife beating.

I have sympathy for his family and anyone that feels his loss but no sympathy for him.

Call me a prat or whatever, thats my opinion and I'm stickin to it.
