I've gotta say that Sam and Colin speaketh the Truth. If you wanna play game, it can only be Millennium style Millennium quality. If anybody knows anything about tournies and what they should be it's these guys (consultancy fee guys). The m25s are great for teams trying to get "some" game, but when you become serious, the marshalling and some of the other tertiary points start to become important.

The series achieved a lot in a short space of time, and has brought many improvements over what was evidently before (I know no better, since I never played before Campaign 02, hey theres a first time for anything).

As a first taste to tounies it was great, and gave us hunger for more, however you can see why some of the points and or constructive criticisms being raised started to make more sense. A good number of suggestions have been raised for the M25 and even other UK series to take note of. It would be ashame if some of these were ignored, because I believe they raise the bar for all, not just those who concentrate on Millenniums.

Yep this is a big thanks to Miss M25 for this year, your've given everybody a lot to think about. I hope the series does go from strength to strength and the constructive points are listened to ( even if they are war & peace ;) ). As to next year well we're moving up, got some big phish to fry; Millennium Style :D

just to support what MR PINK is saying both Sam and I have offered several alternatives to Patrina to solve here marshalling situation. If that's not constructive then what is?
Or you could have said series2003/4 or the Midland Masters.
But I am glad you think good marshals should be paid £100 per day.
Perhaps you can suggest that rate to Naill for the marshals he asked me to send down :D

Safety is paramount in all aspects of paintball. Saftey first then fun, the six year old that was struck by the paintball was my son. he is now ok but as we all know more of the shots played in paintball are across the feld as well as top and bottom with the netting at any tourney should be doubled all round when there are members of spectators watching , my son loves to watch paintball as many other children do, so lets think of those children that watch the game we play and are desperate to play to. Their safety is top priority as they are at face height of our paintballs because most of us are bending down shooting at front players in small barracades.

As for language and how we represent oursevles do we act like this in front our children I tend to think not So why act the way those people do in front of others. This is a sport that need complete recognition as a proffessional sport.

we are all our childrens heros, so lets not ever see a child hurt let alone a player.

If you think i am moaning, just sit back and think about it all.

big big titties
on the swearing front, i did see a extremely noticeable drop in swearing this m25. one player (not mentioned:rolleyes: ) swore, to his team mates saying move up, but apologised straight away, and the other guys were administered with a 1-4-1 after a warning. 2 legs before almost every game i heard some guy shouting get him the f*** outta there judge hes hit on the f***ing hopper etc etc.

so the 1-4-1 rule is working!

my 7 yr old daughter was also hit on the head by a stray ball while standing in front of field one but i see it as my fault for taking her i'v been before and know the dangers the event was never billed as being safe for children and i could have made both my children wear masks.
but i would like to thank the player that had seen her get hit and came over to make sure she was ok, thanks mate

from a parents point of veiw maybe someone should put a sign up for the puplic warning them of stray balls becaus not all of the people there with children would about balls bouncing over the last thing paintball needs are complaints from the sports centre users

sorry potbitch and all others, i have just read the whole thread and there are some very inteligent suggestions and observations, but with regards to safety and children especially i can quite honestly say if my child was hit by a paintball whilst standing as a spectator through what should be (no excuses are acceptable what so ever here!!!) complete and unbroken SAFETY NETTING i would be everyones worst nightmare believe me! as all you parents out there will appreciate!!

SAFETY CANNOT BE BOUGHT CHEAP.....EVER!!!

sorry to sound aggresive but i feel an adult getting hit through netting is bad, but children! i would sue the ass off the organiser once they recovered!

this is not directed at anyone in particular, and is my own opinion and does not reflect any views from my sponsors or team

This is slightly off topic but as I've not played an M25 event I cant comment about them just other events I've been too.

I've made this comment before in other threads but I think the bottom metre of netting should actaully be bolstered by something solid ie clear plastic. This would break the balls and hopefully stop incidents like those mentioned above.

On a personal note, at Campaign some years back before barrel condoms were mandatory, I was watching a game when an eliminated player was walking to his deadzone. His marker accidentally fired and the barrel bung did its job to a point, it shot out bursting the ball in the process, spraying paint and shell through a gap in the netting where it was attached to the poles. Some of this balls shell ended up in my 12 year old sons eye who was with me near the netting. I got it out fairly quickly and no damage was done (only embaressment to the player who might have been a Banzai!, he did apologise) His marker was at his side so the end of the barrel was probably in the bottom metre, if the netting had been reinforced this incident could of been avoided.

No tournament is immune from this issue but it is one all promoters should take seriously. The first event that has a severe accident involving a spectator will unfortunatley open a can of worms that will effect everyone.

As for marshalling, since day one its been a problem, even when we played in the woods. I would imagine their are a lot of ex-players out there who left this sport because they were fed up with poor marshalling. Maybe they should be enticed back as marshalls to hopefully make a difference or even those players who retire now should look at marshalling permantly as a way of being involved in the sport they love but putting something back into it.

Just my 2p! :)
