Such as helping a young girl with a rare heart condition - PBN's "Paintballers for Peyton" Campaign? I believe it was around $30,000 dollars raised in 7 days?

Out of curiosity - what sort of causes did you have in mind?
you know as well as i do the main reason this was done was for bloke who had to suffer the 6 months of torture there wifes/GF make them sit thogh every weekend. and the bloke just want to rebel and stick there fingers up at Simon Cowell, the charity came as a bi product of this.

and some thing i thought of was Folding@Home

Hello Folks,

Is your computer idle for several hours of the day? If so, did you know that
you can put it to good use doing research into complex medical conditions
like Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease,
and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes? Basically, you download a
piece of software that will work in the background on your machine and
feedback its results. More info here...

There are several varieties of FaH Cores to run on various operating systems,
Windows, Mac, Linux and even the PS3 games console.
if every one did that maybe a bigger and better felling of worth may have been achieved

Lump you seem pretty set in your view, but you have to accept it was a reaction against the manufactured pop culture being forced on us every year and of course the idiots that buy into it all, irrespective of who gets the money or if there is some greater cause we could be helping.

I don't have a wife/GF, but I got behind the movement as it showed the chance of something a little different being popular, if only for a week. A change is as good as a rest after all ;)

That's a very good project - I have run it before, and will do so again as soon as this PC's hard drive stops crashing my system every 12-14 hours!

So - how are we going to promote F@H? ;)

Last time I looked no one was forcing anyone to listen to it.

I bought the winners single for my wife, because she likes it, also the charity single, again because she likes it.

Personally, I think the campaign was started by someone who has f*ck all else to do with his time, and also has a tendency to stir the ****e.

shame people could not get as motivated about some thing worth while

I'll second that sentiment. This past two years I've seen two babies die whoh are close to our family, one 15 months old and the other 17 days, yes DAYS. Last week the woman who lives across the road, literally opposite my house, simply dropped dead.

Do you honestly think those people REALLY give a flying f*ck who is Christmas number one??

To be fair (and this is coming from somebody that works in the music industry), Rage Against The Machine is just as much a product as X Factor is. They just target different demographics and also strive for a different length of "selling power".

Besides that, if Rage Against The Machine went to the number one spot with one of their songs, many of their "fans" would have turned their backs on them, because they "went commercial". Even though it may have just been a fluke...

There's nothing as fickle as the music buying public. Well, maybe paintballers... ;)

In fact, I'll go as far as to say that Simon C. is a VERY smart and talented man. I do not like any of his music, but it takes a lot of savvy to create a product as low of quality as the Spice Girls and still shift millions. In the same way that whoever came up with the McDonald's concept is a genius, even though the food is of horrible quality.
