Yup i agree ban drops, i used to use an angel air with a compact, not as bad as most drop as it only shoves the reg forward a little but those long ass things that put the bottle half under the grip are just plain stupid!
got me a macdev conquest now and the stock mount rail is spot on, with a 0.8l bottle on its nice and tight and dont get in the way at all!

oh and yeah im another freak who is right handed but left eye dominant........thought i was the only one!

shoot from the hip baby its the way forward!

I have a unimount and a CP rail on my two guns, and I have to say that I would never go back to using a drop forward. It makes for a more compact style of play and a much more stable shooting platform. Also, I've noticed that having no drop makes it a bit easier to control where you're shooting when you are moving your marker (either on a run through or when holding down multiple people). The only reason I would run a small drop is if I was using a long style 88ci tank. Those things are monstrous, but I dont think they make them much anymore, now most of the 88s are stubby.

I tried playing with a long set up but it didn't work for me.... maybe gotta give it another go. I feel like my snap is better with short set up.

One question, is it really important which eye is dominant if you have both eyes open? Or have I just never paid attention that I'm always using a certain eye when I play.

I'm all for letting everyone use personal preference in their setups..... but there IS a reason MOST the Pros play a "long gun setup".

A good 3-4 inches from the front of the bottle to the back of the grip, allows you to play tighter AND more comfortable (the latter part translates into a higher ROF) !

Steve: Are you moving from a 90 grip to a 45 grip to get a more ergonomical shooting position ? - Honestly, that sounds backwards to me, unless you plan to hold out the gun in front of you like a pistol, or don't mind hanging out your elbow a lot ?

Try looking at your wrist position with one type frame and then the other.... I think you'll find you are better off with the one you have on there now.

Notice what kind of grip comes on a DM4? Notice I said "Tommy-gun style"?

The space-frame is more ergonomic for holding your gun in tight but not for "Tommy" or "shotty" style.

Here's a freeby, my latest "invention": a grip-frame that can instantly adjust from M-16 to 90 angles. (If SP are quick they can jump on that idea.;))

I think for break-balling, back and mid-back playing and for a lot of up-front playing the forward gun style is best (if you can get used to it) for many reasons, not least of which is more natural double-finger triggering when shooting that way. But sometimes you really need to stay in very, very tight. Therefore it would be good to be able to choose.

Another factor is obviously the shape, positioning and looseness/tightness of the trigger itself.

I'm also working on that...

It's not so much the getting shot on the arm is a problem because many people wear so much forearm padding the possibility of a break is greatly reduced.
I think the best thing is that when u see that arm coming out u know the head/hopper can't be far behind so u shoot a string at where the head/hopper is gonna be and crack:)
Yeah it leads everything you do.
