Mother, is that you?
I'll bet you he says...

1) It'd cost too much to film it
2) No one plays it.

Oh, and he might be a little sneaky and say ... 'why should I? How will the televising of paintball make me money?'

Now, let's see who can answer that one!

Isnt there a association or something that deals with this sort of stuff?

I would think the best way to go about it is:
1-Get the man from the channel interested by sending him a copy of Campaign DVD and PGI.
2-Now that he knows what we're about send him some info like how many people play or have played.
3-His main persuassion will be money though as thats obvisiously why the channel exists-ADVERTISING-Im sure if there were most of the tournament players watching this programme it would invite alot of interest from the big names in the industry.

My company puts through over a thousand people a week during the summer at our main site, now think we've got 4 sites and we're only one company-There are alot of people playing!I appreciate its rec-ball but it still creates a big potential market for the TV company.

Anyway thats my thoughts.
Take it easy,Ping

Well I suppose that would be us in the UKPSF :D

I'll talk to Bully and fire off an official letter. I doubt we'll get anywhere (as Rancid rightly says P'ball's expensive to film properly) but what the heck.

Mildly interesting statistic: About 400,000 people played Paintball in the UK last year (But more than 99.5% of them are Rec-Ballers)

Hey Jon,

How did you come to that figure mate?

Diablo, there's only about 500 tourny players in the country - that aint exactly going to crank up the old viewing figures. And who exactly are the big players in the industry? Anybody worth their salt is getting to these tourny players (and a **** load of reccers) by being in the mag.

We gotta try, but just cos we love the sport doesn't translate into it being anything other than a weirdo fad in the orrible wrist-slitting world of making money.

I still say... grss roots. Pgi and ukpsf have got to come together at rec/casual/corporate level and try and turn these people on.

The figure comes from the UKPSF Site Survey 2000-2001. Sounds high but actually if you consider there are about 110 UKPSF member sites in the UK that would only work out as an average of about 70 players per site per week (The vast majority of individual Rec-Ballers don't play more than once or twice a year)

Not all sites are registered with the UKPSF either.

There are actually closer to 850+ tourney players in the UK. The UKPSF has somewhat more than 500 playing members and membership is nowhere close to universal (mores the pity)
