you've got alot to learn. How would you feel if you where put in a firing squad for hitting the ref a few times? Even if it an't your fault (the ref ran out in front of your line of fire as you where about to fire).

Your they to enjoy yerself. Been punished like a school kid an't my idea of fun. Getting hit by punters is part and parcel of been a marshall. Accept it, or don't marshall, simple as.

If a guy is stupid and dense enuf to be put in a firing squad, how the hell could u trust him with something that can take a eye clean out? As Liz says, if we get anyone like that at the site, they are escorted off. I don't want someone near me that is quite happy to risk they own health, cuz if they don't give a toss about they own health, they an't gonna give a monkeys about yours either.

*sigh*

as a girl, to generalsie that all site managers/owners are male
"entirely up to the site owner whether HE did anything like that"
i am a marshal down Sparklie Chicks site, and i think i need not remind you that Sparklie owns and runs the site, and may i add, does a damn fine job of it.

just thought i should mention.

as to age limits for marshaling, it is again down to the site manager. some sites prefer over 18s cos of the responsibility of a marshal on the field. others dont mind younger.

just ask yourself, have you ever been marshalled by somoone younger than 18?? unlikely. no offence, but it is really a health and safety thing

SYTRAXZ - please tell me where you play, co i never want to play there.

if on your first day of paintballing, your using an unfamiliar marker for the first time, and you accidentally shoot a marshal. If this marshal feels the need to redeem himself/herself by retaliation then that is all you will remember of the day. as far as im concerned that marshal should be asked to leave the site, not the player.

Rule 1 of Marshalling - you WILL get shot. and usually no matter how long youve been in the game, you will keep getting shot, and usually more than once a day.

as a marshal you are NOT there to fire ANY paint at customers, no matter what the reason. Many players are new to the sport and will be heavily put off if they get shot by someone that is there to take care of them.
A marshals job is a very hard one, and no-onw appreciates getting shot, but you are there to run games, make sure the customers are happy, and make sure everything is safe.

Sorry Billy. You're right, I was generalising & I'm well aware that Sparklie runs one of the best sites around - don't forget that my own sponsors are a site that is jointly run by a woman (6th Element). Force of habit I suppose - but then again the majority of people always refer to players as "he".

thppp i play at firstprize paintball they really only shoot the realy advanced players if its a new person i think they make em open the hopper and take out a ball and toss it at em but i am not sure lol hmmm i guess 18 is right cause of insurance reasons and stuff so i guess i should wait a while then lol

THEN TYPE SLOWER

All your errors just make you out to be the ignorant fool that your earlier posts also make you out to be. Use a full stop or two and maybe a comma, perhaps you may even be able to work out where the shift key is (but I doubt it).

Thanks billy, hello liz to my knowledge there are now three possibly 5 girls involved in running sites out of 160ish (ukpsf sites)

It still is and allways will be to some extent a male dominated sport. Liz my self and the other ladies are the execption. :) ;)

Marshalling

is a responcible job,

you are responcible to:
the customer
the site and the other marshalls
the sport
and your self

As a marshal you are there to make sure every one has a fun but more importantly safe day, for new players you will be that persons experince of paintball what it's about and how they rember it.

As any one involved in the sport if we are known to be or advertise the fact ie I run a site and am reasonably well know at least locally. How you behave on and off the feild reflects on the sport. Weither you like this or not this is how it is, doubly so if it is in a proffesional capacity or tourney team.

Thats why I made a promise to my self to educate the masses and not to fire any markers at home. I know lots of people that do, and have been present when the police turn up. Not a good first impression of the sport we love.

I am also aware of some horric events, safety breeches, and bad attudies they put people off for life and creat a bad public immage
I cringe every time I hear another tale of woe. Yours is not the first of marshalls shoting customers I fear it won't be the last.

Marshalls in england must be 16. It invalidates the site insurance for any one under that age to be marshalling. I would sugest any one marshalling if they have not done so to take the UKPSF marsahll training course. Not only will it make you a better marshall it will make you a safer marshall and explain the full implications of marsahlling.

Are any of you aware how the childrens act effects your marshalling of junior games? you should be! Who wants to be labled a nonce for the rest of their lifes just through ignorance and some silly 14 year old. It can happen make sure it's not you!

It's not all being lit up long hours getting cold and rained on whilst tied in metaphorical red tape.

If done safely with common sence marshalling is great fun and its a tremendous sense of accivement when you wave a group of newly converted players off at the end of the day.

Peace love and cookies

Sparklie

Still marshalling and loving it welts and all ;)
