ok matey
here's the deal!
Its not really about age but experience!
Until you have at least a couple of years then don't even think about marshalling tournaments :(
What you should do though is go to your local site and ask if you can help out
They might at first just want you to clean the markers and help clean up but eventually they will let you marshall.
I think the age will be around 14
As always start off small and work your way up
remember if you think it hurts playing hahaha wait till you marshall.
I used to come home battered and bruised
good luck

lol ya sorta buit the rule i love about there feild is that if u shoot the ref and he knows who did it he stops the game takes ur gun and shoots u with it like 1 or 2 times lol then ur out of the game hehe untill the next 2-3 games but i am 14 and i guess i could clean but theres like 5 adults working there so i guess the chances of being hiered will be little.... but would they have a dicount on playing rates?

It would be entirely up to the site owner whether he did anything like that, they all have their own ways of doing things.
Can't really do the bit about shooting anyone who shoots the marshall when you have rental customers, many of them can't hit a barn door at 10 paces & if they hit you in the head, are actually aiming at a player 8 feet away lying on the ground.

true that. I marshall @ a local field for rec games. Most of the punters are on rentals (infernos) and have never played before.

I don't *think* the majority of rental players mean to hit you, although there is one or two that will always try it on. IE, i can't see anyone to shoot at, Ohhh theres the marshall. All it takes is one trigger happy customer, and you'll be looking like you've been playing for 24 hours solid u'll have so many damn welts.

that is so...SOOOOO wrong. these people are *paying* to play the game. Like liz said, most couldn't hit a barn door. I can't believe the marshall has the stupidity to lite the punter up, EVEN more so to take them outta the game(s).

If i came across that marshall i'd lite him up so hard he wouldn't be able to pick up my marker, never mind shoot it.

If this is what u think a marshall should do SYTRAXZ, i suggest you take a look at other marshalls and learn from them.

On the up side, i love marhsalling. Bring new people into the game and watching them play can be very satisfiying indeed. I have 12 months marshalling under my belt now, and i'd really like to move onto torny reffing, but its still far too fast paced as i'm used to rec-ball marshalling. But i will be there one day :)

well

well they make sure at the beginning of each session they go over all the rules and the refs wear orange shirts and they tell them to make sure they dont shoot them cause if they doo thell shot them out they make sure each player can see them befor they even start the session im sure other refs might not do it but others may..

/me hands sytraxz some ,'s and some .'s

that was one long sentence.

EVERY site i've ever been to goes over the rules of the site. its pretty much a unwritten law.

Even so, for a ref to shoot a punter is downright wrong. No matter how many warnings they are given.

At one site i've seen a firing squad. This was done for repeatly taking off goggles in the dead zone etc. I didn't agree with that, and made a point of this at the site, and that site was only using splatmasters!!

Splatmaster - plastic pistol styled marker from about 15 years ago, one of the first ever makes. Can't remember if it actually had a 10-shot stick feed for the paint (someone who's been around even longer than me put me right here please) and ran on a 12 gram CO2 canister something like a Sparklets Soda charge. Virtually indestructable, and I know one that was cranked up (for chrono purposes only) to run at about 450fps.

I still say that punishing paying customers for lack of accuracy in a way that will put them off, isn't the way to promote our sport. Worst comes to the worst, a player that consistently and intentionally shoots at the marshalls could be banned from a site, but the purpose of a marshall is to see that all the customers have a safe and enjoyable day.

Few words for ya .Nail The Head The On Hit.

Sturdy as hell. was used for many years as the standard rental marker. The PT Exteme pistols are gloryfied versions of them.
