Good move guys!!

This should be mandatory for ALL UK events and simply, no insurance/membership, no play!! Just please police it and make sure people get it!!!

Just as an additional note - I raced various scales of model cars locally, nationally and in Europe from the early 80's through to the mid 90's (approx 15 years) and i cannot remember a year when insurance membership wasn't mandatory, it was always there and always required - and that's just racing model cars :( - not shooting people or getting shot at!!!

I'm joining tomorrow when i get home :) £12.50 is also good value for that cover.

Nice one :)

Note: I think i have a small membership card laminator kicking about somewhere if you want it donating to the cause if I can find it? Ain't used it in yonks.

All sites should have the Insurance on display on site. If anyone is in doubt ask the site to see the certificate. My site insurance is in the office / heated paint room and anyone at Ionman can come and see it. My insurance covers me for my site gear, as a site owner I have to look after / check and make sure dates are followed.

It does not cover me for Tom, Dick or Harry's gear as I don't know If Tom, Dick or Harry has ****ed around with his or her gear and made it un-safe. So I am not going to let Tom. Dick or Harry injure someone and then say "it's ok Tom has taken your eye out but I have insurance and i'll take the blame". Sorry Tom can take the **** he causes and sort the **** out himself. With the guide lines laid down by the UKPSF we will hopefully catch Tom, Dicks and Harry's before they do serious injuries to anyone. But if they have a sneaky bottle in the bag etc they sneak on to site with they need to be able to face the **** they have coming. They also need to be able to pay the liable damages a site is going to hit them with for loss earning while HSE investigate. The liable they cause from the accident they caused but the site got blamed for ! Or the injuries they cause others or even themselves !

i personally wouldnt say no to a schedule or some sort of dummy document to find out what im actually covered for. its cheap as chips for cover so i just wonder where that 5 mill comes from? this could possibly be an FAQ so ill ask it now.

i cant find the info i want on the ukpsf website, does anyone have more info on the actual coverage of this membership/insurance?

The liability cover is not for the UKPSF we pay our own cover and it is considerably more than £12.50, the liability is for the player who pays the insurance. The site and the event organiser should have business liability cover as well so everyone has some form of cover.

I may be being thick here (and i probably am), and im not saying anyone is trying to grab extra cash, but why is this mandatory? If the tournament has their own insurance, why shouldn't I have the choice whether I insure me? Just a question im not accusing anyone of anything.
I will be signing up but not until i see a proper official document stating what im paying for as i can't see anything on the UKPSF site, and a little list on the homepage just seems a little unproffessional to me (apologies if there is an official document and i just cant find it). Im not against this idea and again im not accusing anyone of anything, but i do expect official documentation, just as i would when buying any other type of insurance.

If for example you are not insured and your bottle exploded, you may injure others, they inturn may seek compensation from you. you will find it financially crippling unless you are insured or filthy rich.

I am not filthy rich but I am well insured, to the point where if I am seriously hurt I receive £2500 a month until I go back to work or for the first 11years, whichever is the sooner (and trust me not many can get that kind of insurance).

This insurance is not a replacement of the policy that has to held and made available for you to view by the organiser.
What it is for is to protect everyone from everybody else.
Lets say you are sorting your gun out in the safe area and you accidentally shot someone in the eye.
It's not my fault because you have been told you must have your barrel sock on at all times so my insurance company would fight the claim and the liability would go to the person who caused it in the first place.
Thats your house on the market then and five years wages.
Of course you can save yourself 24p a week - and stop playing our events because players will have it, or not play.
