Replacing normal paintball - no, or not for a long time
Becoming much bigger - decimate yes

At any scenario game today you will see a mixture of magfed, pump, pistol etc up against mechanicals and speedballers
Going up against a paint sprayer you find yourself on the wrong end of the paint so often, but the satisfaction of the one time you come off best is worth it

Different games are coming up more regularly and now the magfed player can buy to meet any budget
This is a very good point.. Although i could name a few players who could kick any speedballers rear :p

It's something I would definitely want to try - maybe not invest in a setup, but I totally get the appeal of being able to aim-down-sights and have a bit of a more theatrical experience with mag changes and all that.
And get a hammer 7.. There only 120 or less.. Or get my t68 for 200 ;)

I can certainly see fields offering mag-fed play. It makes sense and can be just as profitable for the field. Instead of charging for paint, they charge a fee for the experience including unlimited paint, knowing that players have 2/3 mags and will only really shoot 50-100 balls per match. The customer gets a day of fun for a fixed price - all in, the field gets the same profit margin but handles a lot less paint and so reduces running costs. Win/Win.

Yes.. Tiny does a great day for sucha cheap price.. On Sunday i played near enough 10 games and used less than 400 balls.. I think magfed is gunna become a lot bigger and eventually a lot cheaper for paintballers

No interest in magfed really. I play with a pump occasionally for the fun of it, but I haver a slight distaste for anything that goes too "Milsim". I don't buy the argument that it takes more skill - yes you have to take more aimed shots, but if the oppo are on mags, you can be a lot more sloppy when coming out to shoot knowing that there are only a few shots coming back.

I'm glad that magfed play is taking off in the UK, although I'm also not a huge fan of milsim styled guns. I don't think it will ever surpass hopper use (especially given that it will shrink a lucrative revenue stream for organisers if people aren't hosing thousands of rounds) but more variety is a good thing, as the volume of paint being slung in most scenario events these days is daft.

I'm particularly pleased to see that it also allows for some crossover from stock-class pump, with magfed events allowing pumps with stickfeeds. Hopefully that will encourage the growth of the stock-class scene in the UK, which seems to be virtually non-existent compared to the US.

Two very good points..
From an organisers veiw they would loose alot of money from people using less than a quarter of the paint.. Although this surely would then benifit and help encourage people who do not have much income to spend on the sport..

Surely being able to aim and being more accurate means you are more skilled??

And i can see what you are saying about milsim looking guns, and this is a good point that a lot of people feel.. although there are guns out there like the hammer 7 that dont look like anything real.. and also if you do a mag conversion on a Tippmann they dont look milsim like

Although not to my taste, I think the milsim styling could be considered as a big plus for paintball as a whole. We've been hemorrhaging players looking for a more 'COD' experience to airsoft for years. Doing away with the blimp on top and making things more real steel in appearance might help stem the flow a bit.....but possibly bring us more into view of the VCRA if we have more RIFs?

yeaa i agree mate.. at alot of teenagers especially (around my age) have joined because of more realistic guns, and in a way making it more like a COD match..
I know alot of people who are fed up of speedballers or people with hoppers just spraying.. i also agree.. at any game it is easy to spray and get a kill using 300 rounds... but i think games are more fun and more intense at magfed.. because people use tactics instead of blind luck

Personally, some of the best games I have EVER played in where limited paint tourneys back when the sport was all about fun rather than money and sponsored teams. Means you have have to be more tactical about your shoes and targets, rather than spray and pray as the Americans say. Having the ability to fire at 25 bps doesn't make you a great player, the game is being ruined by ramping markers that fire at such great rates with no control from the player. These days the electronics take care of it all, who really knows how to pull a mech trigger. The question should not be mag fed or hopper, it should be whether to limit the rate of fire and the paint players Cary in each game

I think we will probably see .50 cal come in before mag fed really kicks off!
