from what i can tell, you only need it to be "fixed" by a tech eg SP if you actually do something wrong to it ie overpressurising it might blow the solenoid, so that would be a professional fix, not a DIY effort.

similarly if you attack the circuit boards then you would have to buy a replacement from SP

but stuff like changing hoses or banjo fittings, and servicing the orings/lubing/general care is a 5 minute job and can easily be done yourself. just make sure you have all the correct bits (ie buy a spares kit, £15 ish from planet)

Ion's will never be at the 'top of the game' because they'\re not top-end markers. they're great for starting out or if they're tricked-up they're ok mid-level, but you need to be spending big bucks for a top of the game marker.

Or you could use one in pro if you wanted, like a certain Ryan Greenspan from Dynasty did on the first or second day in paris.

There is nothing stopping you from using them at top level, they come with a 15bps ramping mode so what makes it different from others? they are super light, quite reliable from what i know and they seem to shoot really brital paint straight out of the box with no mods, if you want anything else, then sorry your too picky lol

but i contradict myself and shoot an ego :D

well.. i just bought an Ion..

out of the box, it leaked like hell..

ive heard you either get a good one, or a bad one..

this.. i can confirm...

ive just sent mine back as i cant figure out whats wrong with the damn thing..

However, even in its leaky state, the gun shoots like hell and is fantastic value for money..

despite my "setback" id recomend it to anyone..

i think some of the issues regarding this are people get there new toy and leap straight into whacking on a preset without thinking to zero out the regulator

although its said they are set from the factory always zero out your regulator (RTFM!) and gradually increase to about 180psi on the guage. otherwise you can get leaks i think

common sense and no im not saying that explains all the peoples issues but its certainly one of them
