Yeah true, what suits us might not suit you so it's best to try b4 you buy

Gotta agree with Lovetone and Rosie mate.

I got myself a Dynasty shocker as my first marker (a Tippmann A5 doesn't count!) and loved it....until I popped off my mates Ego last week.

The Ego blew me away - felt light, quality and shot like a dream.

The other thing that sold me is it fires an unbelievably straight, true, flat flighted shot with hardly any drop off.

I'd say take Rosie's advice and buy yourself an Ego off here mate - can easily get one in your price range for that and still have enough left over for air.

You won't regret it!

There's a lot of rubbish talked about the Ion/Shocker difference by a lot of people who don't know much about either - that's not directed at anyone in this thread.

The only difference between a shocker and an ion in the hands of the vast majority of people is the feel of it. They work in virtually identical ways, except the ion eye system is superior. In a shocker the air goes down the inside of the bolt, in an ion down the outside. Big wows...

An ion upped to its natural potential will perform as well as a shocker, and will be virtually identical in feel, and not far off in looks but maybe a little more individual. This still means buying parts from the states. If you do it from new, you will have a gat that will cost £350-400, and still have enough money left for a new ion as back up.

Anyone who tells you the shocker is built to a higher standard or is more reliable or you get what you pay for or whatever is absolute bullcrap. I had nothing fail on my rifle last year except replacing the rubber detents, as with an e3go.

If you prefer the feel of a certain gat, knock yourself out, but the difference between shockers and ions is widely misunderstood...

shockers are Ok, much better than Ions

or pick up a cheap 05 Speed they're going for about £370 now, & they arent that much different physically to an 06 Speed [/B]
Why get a 05 speed when you can get a G7 for £350! Thats how much I got mine for!!

good for you.

Nuhhh I'm a retard I meant £270 not £370 :p, a rare typo ;)

well, £270 and £350 is the difference between getting air or a loader and just getting a marker ;), & I've used G7's & imo they aren't that much different from an 05 Speed- you just get a menu and a screen, -pretty much the same level of performance

as a first marker an 05 speed would be pretty damn brilliant, compared to some other (no offence) dodgy 5th hand mech cockers which I have seen newbs playing with

I started with an impulse, 'cause it was cheap. it did for a bit but there were quite a few problems with it, and after I upgraded I was really surprised with the difference between the markers

just go to a local tourney or rec walk-on and try a few of the markers, see what suits you for weight, stance etc.
If you've got enough money for a shocker then go for it but don't forget to budget for upgrades in your other kit like better bottle better loader etc

I am not biased about markers now, I would shoot anything that was practical and light-ish, I tried a shocker and really liked it despite having always been told that they were crap gas-guzzling markers etc etc, so remember that everyone will try & tell you a different tale about what's the best kind of marker
I know I only like angels because i started with an angel-sponsored team, maybe if I hadn't have been sponsored I would have gone for a Timmy or a shocker, dunno

I have been struggling for money recently & if it came to it & I had to downgrade I suppose I would be Ok going with an Ion- cheap but reliable, easily upgradeable to a good standard
apparently not so different to a shocker
not that I know!

ehhh yeah...that was a bit of an essay for half twelve at night!
so...what was I saying...yeah try some out, make your own choices, talk to a couple different players, dont just buy a marker 'cause it's cheap you have to get on with as well

eg some people prefer different styles of trigger like the angel's is magnetised- very different to an ego trigger or a cocker.
