if you wait a while, I heard a rumour (so i may be wrong) but i think Smart Parts are bringing out a direct QEV banjo replacement to screw straight in instead of DIY'ing your own.
If you want to though, you will find the instructions on PBnation or ionowners.com or ion-owners.com

be careful where you stick your V's though, apparently certain p8nt users dont take well to insulting behaviour. :p :D

QEV mod is very very easy - I've done it to all our teams'. Get a planet QEV, screw it in finger tight til it points in the right direction. This will mean carving the INSIDE of the plastic shell a little to enable it to fit but is INVISBILE from the outside. Remove the old banjo as though it were a normal 90 deg air fitting - ie; push against the collar. Put the new hose back on, couple of turns of ptfe tape around the QEV threads to guard against little leaks, screw it GENTLYY in (very easy to shear). Assemble rest of marker normally, gas up, drop dwell! I usually set Ion dwell with QEV to 10 (without to 52), meaning faster cycle times = easier to hit 17bps (or at least shoot faster ;))

Other advantages = slightly better efficiency and critically the lube does not vent through the solenoid but into the grip frame harmlessly = way less pain in the arse disassembling the 'noid.

Any questions, pm me. Am always happy to help if I can

Get some New Designz detents. Much easier on paint and improves accuracy.

Ignore the instructions and put the spring in BIG END OUTWARD otherwise they will stick. Also make sure the recess for the detents is fully cleaned or once again they will stick.

A new designz trigger is the dog's nackers. fully adjustable and the smoothest pull, thanks to roller bearing pivot.

Some sort of venting on/off valve is also essential. Once again the new designz light weight version is perfect for the job. I use mine with a Smart Parts micro rail, and it looks sweet.

I have not installed a qev but by all accounts it is a good mod without any ill effects.

Check out the new designz web site at www.newdesignz.com
The cheapest way to get their stuff shipped is through www.catalystpaintball.com They can ship to the u.k for $10 as opposed to the $50 on the new designz site.

Also a barrel is essential. I use the freak kit from my impulse.

Hope this helps

Ladies and gentlemen

Im here to save you your pennies.

DONT take the stock trigger off apart from removing the magnet. One stock trigger minus magnet feels so nice. Almost as if the trigger isnt there, who needs ramp when you can still shoot as fast without it??? :D

now my only problem is which setup to use??? too many guns

The stock trigger wobbles like hell from side to side and I don't like the profile of it.

If you take the magnet out, critically, it may (like any light trigger pull gats) fall foul of any 'bottle spanking' tests.

On the other hand, you could lighten the magnetic pull by holding the magnet over a naked flame (best take it out of the trigger first) or just but a thebetterone trigger...

:)

PS Uncle Fester's right about the QEV mod - shorter cycle time = more balls in the air up to the 17 cap
