In your opinion, is paintball closer to Soccer or "war?"

Sorry, didn't read that bit - you're probably right about it Diggie, they were just excerts of quotes from people whom I've explained the sport too in the past

As for paintball being related to sex...

Your glasses (goggles) always seem to steam up just when the games getting good!
There's all the foreplay and waiting before you manage to finally pull off that climactic bunker move
When your girlfriend puts you in the dog house and you're not able to get the real thing you can always strip down and polish your cocker to keep you satisfied till your back in her good books!
Remember to use a condom!! Safety first - always ;)
There's so much competition and debate over which barrel length the ladies love the most :D
Whoever has the largest tank and biggest pressure can get more shots out per session
It's a race to see who can get their balls to drop the fastest...and avoid all those messy barrel breaks and chopped balls
Your always looking for sites about it on the internet
You've got stacks of magazines relating to both topics next to your bed always in ready supply!
Your always trying to shoot at the highest possible speed without breaking the limit

Hmmm......maybe I should stop there :D

Famine I don't know about you, but I'n not usually the one to get covered in sticky goo after sex ...

Paintball was created as the "national survival game" and it was everybody for themselfs. What it is today is nothing like what it was. Alot of ppl are drawn to scenario type games because they want to experience war like stuff but can't or are not willing to serve their country and actually get shot at and be shot ... I don't know about you guys, but getting shot is pretty low on my 'todo' list.

But tourney paintball is farther from war than most sports. I draw more blood in waterpolo than I do in paintball. I mean when's the last time you made someone bleed from the eye in paintball? I felt bad about it afterword ... but he was really ****ing me up so it was on. ...

Cyrus, one of our mid guys, used to play waterpolo as well. He said players grab eachother's scrotums (and I mean vice grip like) to make them drop the ball.
Mean mothers, them swimmy boys.

Paintball is every thing to everyone (although it doesn't manage to please everyone all of the time!)
As has already been said, paintball is war games to some, a hobby, something different for a Stag-Do (unless you're a paintball team!), the best 12th birthday party this year, or a serious sport which should be in the olympics.
Whatever you want, you can find!

And just to clear up the earlier confusion about Cricket, here are the official rules, (as explained to foreigners) ;)

=================
"You have two sides, one out in the field and one in. Each man that's in goes out, and when he's out he comes in and the next man goes in until he is out. When they are all out, the side that's been out comes in and the side that's been in goes out and tries to get those coming in, out. Sometimes you get men still in and not out.

"When a man goes out to go in, the men who are out try to get him out, and when he is out, he goes in and the next man in goes out and goes in. There are two men called umpires who are all out all the time, and they decide when the men who are in are out. When both sides have been in and all the men have been out, and both sides have been out twice after all the men have been in, including those who are not out, that is the end of the game."

i think the more important issue is how the public view paintball, most people i know think recball is very war orientated but tournatment is a legit sport. tournament paintball really needs to distance it's self from recball if it is too avoid being tarred with the same brush.

It's very important how the public (or non-paintball playing public) see the sport, but you just can't seperate the two key elements of the paintball world - the rec scene and tourney scene.

Both types of 'ball are very close knit in different ways. Most of the new people to the tourney scene discover paintball from the rec-scene and so progress etc. You have these big scenario games that even hundreds of tourney players attend.... it's all good stuff that needs to share their strengths with eachother and sort out their weaknesses to make their image stronger, safer and more appealing.

I reckon one of the main problems is that you get the few narrominded inividuals who just won't lighten up and realise what rec-ball is really about, and only percieve it as a war hero wannabe game. Most people are fine with it and it's just when you get those few tw@ts who make a big ass fuss about it and are able to distribute their minority view to lots of people via the media etc.

Well said. Can't let a few fools that are delusional about what paintball is and then go and blurb **** to the press!
