It's a perception to call the ion plastic, nothing pbnation about it.

My belief is held in the fact that you can actually buy better bits for the impulse that makes it piss over the ion. Board for one, lpr, valve, ram shaft, bolt etc.

So the ion at present will never be as fast as a impulse. Therefore worse in my eyes. And I know theres a 15bps cap but you could say the ion is as good as any marker with that argument.

I've seen impulses with 20+ bps, never going to happen on a ion.

you can buy a board for an ion just the same as can you buy a new bolt so thats two aftermarket additons it has in common

as for ram shaft and valve, the ion doesnt need these parts so call it even there.

the lpr is commonly an addition to SP guns (eg shocker) and therefore i wouldnt say makes the ion any worse, or perhaps only due to the fact that at present an LPR is not available

an ion will fire at a rate greater than the 17bps current cap of the board (NOT the noid or internals/bolt).
ive seen evidence of this with a new board so that is one theory out the window that it wont do 21 bps of a pulse

speed isnt the only asset of a marker anyway. to only judge a marker on its performance as pure rate of fire is ridiculous.

out of the box an ion easily outperforms the impulse. sure you chuck a board at an impulse that probably costs the price of an ion itself and mill it for break beam eyes. then you might approximate the performance but its always gonna be hindered by weight and profile

therefore i think the ion is superior
if you address all the points on the list

also any 20bps you seen from an imp

1- is probably bouce
2- is not tourney legal
3- probably kicked a lot

Ion

Small profile +
Light +
17 bps -
firning modes +
break beam eyes +
cosmetic options +
can buy a board +
can buy a bolt +
quality control –
cheaper +

6 (8-2) overall

imp

large profile -
heavy -
21 bps +
no modes -
reflective eye –
can buy board +
can buy bolt +
can buy lpr +
can buy valve +
can buy ram shaft +
more expensive –

1 (6-5) overall

Yeah maybe, a 20bps imp was me being conservative.

All I'm saying is, an imp has the capacity to be better then the ion, therefore is.

I don't know how many shots you can get out of an ion, you can get about 1400 out of a 45cu with decent impy internals.

The ion doesn't have a lpr if it doesn't need one then so be it.

We'll see after the world cup when the ion boards are released to see what the actual mechanical capability of the ion is, until then the ion is slower and isn't capable of matching the pulse.

Performance is the main goal of a marker, it's just there similar that you state it's not that important. 4bps or 40 bps faster it's still faster at present. My strange impulse hardly gives anything on profile and weight to an ion.

Got any vid's of a 20 something ion at present? Also how can you say a ion easily out performs a pulse from the box? You can buy a private label impulse that does exactly the opposite.

About the boards, do you think the ion boards will be loads cheaper then the 75 quid of a WAS board? I don't know what impulse board costs the £180 of a ion?

Points addressed want to get back on thread topic?

i recommend he buys a PL pulse then cos both of them seem to be quite poor buys. a 2nd hand eclipse impy vision might be an option as pointed out as that will have upgrades already bolted on

btw i havent got anything again impulses, i think that in their day they rocked and still do, just that in terms of what to buy on a budget an ion does represent great value and at the level the buyer is looking to pay might serve him better than a non-upped impulse. an impulse at the top of its game will compete with anything, as will a cocker, as will an ion. i wasnt attempting to argue for the sake of it, just might help the guy in his decision. im sure a lot of people would agree...

Im not rich like u :p
And i live in Portugal... It's harder get that kinda markers with the taxes (IVA) by 21%...
The best ive to choose is between both impulse...
But what u think 2001 and install the WAS Board/Vision Board or only 2003 without buy anything?
If u think 2001, which board?
Thx ;)
