Impulse or Shocker

Nibbles

When do i get a star?
I'm going out to get a new paintgun in a week or so and I have it narrowed down to a Shocker or an Impulse. I don't have a lot to spend but if I got a shocker i would run it on CO2 but if I got an Impulse I would get compressed air (68ci 3k psi Pure energy). My question is can anyone tell me if the stock guns (shocker or impulse) come with the delrin bolts and any problems they may have (I heard the Impulse had a first shot problem, not sure I know what that meens). Also, does anyone know a good website that has information on shockers? Shockerworld must be down or something because the page won't load.

Neither come with Delrin bolts but you can buy them separately.

Most impulses have the FSDO (First Shot Drop Off) problem but not all. Usually its just some of the Dow33 grease is in the wrong place or there is too much of it on a particular part. Easy to solve. Another thing that could be a problem is that you need to have a ball in the breech for the impulse to re-cock. Sometimes (like once every few months) you might have to re-cock it manually because a ball didn't fall into the breech.

www.impulseownersgroup.com is quite good and www.kamworld.net/paintball/impulseFAQ.html has quite an indepth FAQ about impulses.

Sorry dont know much about shockers other than they are boxes with sticks comming out the end and are "Chunky Munkies"

OK, firstly the Delrin bolt is an aftermarket upgrade; the only way you get them as standard is if you buy a Voodoo custom or similar.
Now getting on to which marker, there are a couple of factors to consider. The Shocker is generally rated as the best, most accurate electro for a back player. However, it weighs a ton & looks like a breeze block. It's also a bit of a gas hog adding even more to the weight & bulk. The Impulse is smaller, lighter & more economical on gas, and can have a Vision eye to prevent chopping. I haven't seen any back players compplaining too much about them either.
So it really should come down to a) where you play on the field, b) which one you feel more comfortable playing with & c) how physically strong you are !

Matter of interest, WHY a 3k air system, especially if you're looking to use a 68ci bottle. Not going to be able to sling too much paint with that set up.

Ooh! Posted at the same time near enough. Don't know as a fact, but as the Impulse won't fire without a ball in the breach if it's a Vision, then the Visions presumably won't have this problem???

Hmm.....why have they only got visions on the impulse? Maybe cos the shockers dont chop :) And if you go for eclipse versions, thee isn't much difference in weight i believe. :D

are you kidding me
they dont only have visions thy are an upgrade
we have both a shcoker and an elcipse impulse vision and believe me the impy weighz about half the weight of the shocker..

they dont chop paint the vision systems are being placed in alot of new markers now.. but this doesnt mean they allways break paint some players dont even bother putting the vision on

like i said i personally own and Eclipse cocker
and shockers are a suprb marker but compared to the latest impulses ie eclipse/freak factory there in onother league
