If you are worried at all about the fact it looks like you importing a "gun" then use the following intrastat code 9304 0000 which basically desribes your marker as a gas or spring propelled weapon but not a firearm.

How about you tell the truth and if it works out to dear check out planets price.

Remember if it go's faulty who will fix it !! or do you send it back to the states.

Just some points of wisdom from a law abidding sole:)

When I got mine, The guy labelled it warrenty repairs!

Except he declared a commercial value on the box so they charged me!

I didnt have any problems getting it into the country and when it got here there was a receipt inside declaring it as warrenty repaired!

So I called up UPS they opened a query with customs and I got my money back!

They did ask for proof of shipping out there, but my marker was taken out by my cousin who lives there to save on shipping

Try getting the marker through customs without paying taxes on it which is no easy feat and a real hassle as I can see. This won't be a problem when it comes to insurances though. They don't look at your shipping manifest when you have a claim, they look at the invoice, that you can have rolled up in the barrel as Philip suggested.

Or as someone suggested, check out how much shipping costs, which is a bunch from the states, and see if it's really worth it. I bought my Matrix from the MAtrix Center and in the end, with the shipping cost included it cost me nearly as much as if I had bought it in Europe (except it wasn't out in Europe yet)....

If its an option to buy in the UK I always will, its a lot more trouble free and if anything goes wrong with the marker its down to the supplier to sort out.
Take the Viking for example (bare with me here, there is a point!) AKA's warranty states that if 'Bob' buys a viking and when he recieves it there is a problem with it AKA will fix whatever the problem is free of charge however 'Bob' is expected to pay the shipping cost's not so bad if you live in the USA but a bit of a bitch if you live in the UK. Buy the marker through Alpha and guess who picks up the tab for sending the marker in? yep, moi!

As said, if the marker is availible in the UK I say buy it in the UK!

Beware

With my UKPSF head on this time

One of the areas I receive several enquiries a year is from players who have had their packages stopped by customs.

An example would be the player who came back from holiday and because he did not want the hassle at the airport shipped the marker to the UK. All done correctly - stripped it down so when or if it was scanned it looked like pieces of metal and plastic, nothing like a marker. Result it arrived in the UK and then the problems started the customs wanted to know what it was and queried the "token" value - result weeks of delay, a big vat and duty bill and then the UPS on top - result what looked cheap actual cost as much as if he had gone to a UK store (I don't think it was something stocked in the UK) , 6 weeks later he had a problem with it he contacted the usual UK shops - no spares, contact the US company - no problem send it back under warranty. He did via UPS more cost and guess what when it can back he got stung with vat/duty and UPS costs. OK there is a small amount of good news - because he could prove he had sent it from the UK as a warranty repair he got the duty/vat back but was stuck with two UPS bills. There is a moral - What looks cheap in another country is only cheap if the UK customs don't open the parcel and decide they want their wedge!!!

There are bargains to be had by buying from other countries and a large percentage of parcels arrive without vat/duty charges, they can't check every parcel, but it can be a pain in the a,se if it is your parcel that gets stopped. Even with duty some items are still cheaper but look carefuly at the costs because the price advertised will not be the price you finish up paying.

Finally, I suffered from the customs checking an item and the item cost about £140/160 and the total vat/duty and carriage cost £90.
Carriage was very expensive for a 2 foot long tube, 3 inch diameter tube weighing less tha 1kg.

:(

Has anyone paid carriage to a company abroad and then when the driver delievers the goods to you, he expects paying

PS I only mention UPS as a carrier I am not making any comment on their charges or service - to my knowledege they are very good.
