I did archery you had to be in a club and be in the uk governing body as well. Although you had to be in both to go anywere it was worth it for the cover you get from severe injures, it also made sure that everyone knew what they were doing and the site including the staff were to code and it made the sport more reliable and save. Which is worth it more in paintball as your likely to be injured.

Ok in paintball its only joining the UKPSF for £15 which isn't bad considering all the checks and legal work that goes into it. I've seen so many of people unaware of the work that goes into setting up an event and totaly unaware of work to protect the sport from tighter law control. If all the players had the UKPSF card so it shows they are protected if injured or injuring someone then paintball would be more excepted by the puplic and the goverment, don't forget the german goverment planned to ban paintball a few years back then there version of UKPSF got them to stop being so stupid.

Just accept this is want paintball needs to continue for years to come.

Oh yes I am Parksy! I could live without the massive expense of paintball mate!
not really into being dictated to by anyone!
I am a player like you mate and spend enough/too much on paintball :tsk:
so any additional cost is not welcome and the word compulsory always seems like a bit of a threat...

however you need to fill yourself in with some history here and this goes back to when the Federation was set up to kick start Brit tourney paintball.

Its core believes to set up a creditable UK Tourny circuit with the NSPL and UK Masters as the only two sanctioned events. ( CPPS was in its infancy )

The only credible paintball body at the time was the UKPSF and it was a requirement that all players playing these events MUST have UKPSF membership as this provided insurance cover, albeit limited, and looked out for paintball in general.

For CPPS to become a sanctioned event by The Federation they must make UKPSF membership compulsory, hence this new requirement.. some one tell me if I am wrong

my own personal thoughts are I would like to see a proper insurance schedule (rather that some blurb on a web site which is vague on what your covered for OR updates on what the UKPSF is achieving for us all so I know my and your money is being well spent ;)

I think I can speak on behalf of UK Asylum (no relation to ASYLUMKILLER) that we support this move - yeah, paintball is expensive but the peace of mind that knowing if the worst happened and a tank popped or such like, we would not be left with a huge liability for the care of someone being dismembered or worse. Plus, with the US style claims culture rearing it's ugly head this side of the pond, I think this is a big step in the right direction.

You'll be allowed to play the events?

Sorry guys, still feels like I am being dictated to - seems the days of great paintball have finally gone!
gonna give this some serious thought over the next few days!

Sorry dude I am the customer - and run business's myself.............I can't imagine telling my customers that they have to join some organisation to come and spend their hard earned money with me - It's ridiculous!

£15 a year. Im not sure how you can grudge that amount for insurance in what i would class as an extreme sport.

The added benefits of the back ground work is very benefical to the paintball community too.

I am by no means skint mate but the kids on my team are! I do begrudge being treated like a child and told what to spend my cash on! Its not the amount - its the principle! I make decisions everyday that could affect my life THATS WHY I HAVE LIFE INSURANCE!, when I play abroad I have travel insurance that covers me for paintball!. I honestly don't care about the federation, it's not a factor in my life nor will it ever be - I just want to shoot people in the face!!!!

Some of you guys must be seriously loaded!

Seems to me that we are paying for the insurance that the sites should have. Personally I already have all the insurance I need.
So this is just a paintball Tax.

I would have more faith in this scheme if the UKPSF website didn't say they don't even look at the sites they cover and if they published policy details.

"Site membership does not constitute approval of the site as there is NO site inspection as a criteria for membership."
