well what can i say except 'WOW' lol in under 12 hours i've learnt what the better guns are and what goes with them, they types of games and that paintball is quite a big sport in england (thought it was mainly americans lol) which is excellent, i'll get onto looking for an ion althought most people have them for around £200 for the kit but that £50 over my limit...btw i have just turned 18 and go to college which i finish in june...(have a weekend job) and the first time i got hit was from about 12 foot away i took 5 shots in the ear, stung at first but went away quick and it was worth it for the rush you get from shooting other people and dodging other shots :p :D

i'll get back to ion hunting and get back to you if i find anything....there was an ion on this site for £200 with upgrades and, seemingly, everything i need but i cant find the link if anyone comes across it and knows if this is a good deal let me know (i know i said 150 a second ago but if this got all the upgrades maybe it'll be worth the extra??) :p cheers and once again wow! :D lol

Skeet,

I had to learn the hard way when I started, and I had loads of young lads on here saying I should go out and by a Halo, and an Ego, and 1.1L 4500psi fibre wrap and buy this and buy that. The total shopping bill for THAT wish list would have been about a grand!

What I was looking for at the time, and couldn't find, was a newbie shopping list of what to get if you want to be able to start out in pball on a budget which in fairness most of us are on.

Instead I had to take some advice from here and their, and look at used prices, and making up my own mind managed to get a used stock Ion, an egg, 0.8L 3000psi air, used I3 mask, used pack, some pots and other little bits, all for about £200. Ok, it wasnt perhaps the flashest looking hardest performing bit of kit, but I went to walk-ons, and held my own, once I started learning some basic pball skills.

I've now up'd my Ion quite a bit, got a better battlepack, bought some tourney style wear, up'd my egg, etc etc etc, but the whole point was that I didn't want to spend a fortune on kit at the outset then find that it perhaps wasn't for me after all.

A post like the one you did should be stickied, as for anyone who wants to start and see how they get on, whether it be for woodsball or tourney it takes away a lot of the bullpoo and conflicting info that can be presented.

Well done Skeet.

Just my tuppence worth.

Cus.
Tell a mod then!!!:D:D:D

Greetings..I'm Skeet, resident busy body and general know it all;)

First up...how old are you? You say you have a car.
I assume you have some sort of regular income, if you run a car.

Seeing as you have looked far enough into paintball, to find this site, I would imagine you get the same Buzz from playing, that the rest of us do.

Therefore, I would speculate, that unless you are some weed, who will have a sudden change of heart, the first time you get lit up (shot to buggery), you will endeavour to play paintball as long and as often as you can.

In that situation...the general consensus of opinion is, if you want a cheap marker to start playing, then no marker exists below an Ion.

The Ion, sadly made by Smart Parts...is truly an excellent marker for an excellent price.

Out of the box, you get what you pay for, a no frills bit of kit, with some parts that are truly pants to look at and might well break...but...can be changed for better ones as your pocket allows and should the need arise.

The internals, are metal and will last very well.

It will shoot up to 17BPS if you can move your fingers fast enough, but you will easily be able to shoot 12-15 after some practice, in Semi Auto.

It also has a 15 BPS "ramp" mode, whereby if you can maintain around 5BPS on the trigger, it will pump 15 balls out of the other end.

So it allows you to compete at any level...even though you may want better.

They are also very easy to maintain yourself.

That is an ION.

It will run on air or CO2, if using CO2 in Semi you should be OK if you don't shoot too fast, but...AIR is the way to go and as soon as possible.

It is at home in the woods or on a supair field.

You will also need a Hopper (loader).a good start is an Egg.

That is an Egg.

It will feed your Ion, faster than you need it to.

Supair absolutely RULES...although the woods can be fun.

That is Nexus (UK groovy Team) against Russian Legion (Russian SUPER team) Nexus cane their asses on this occasion.
That is SUPAIR...and it completely rocks most peoples socks off.

This is part of a controversial Final game, between many time champions Dynasty (American) and Joy Division, who I think are Swedish and are also extremely good.
It shows you how in your face and exciting Sup Air can be...watch to the end.

So...lastly...buy secondhand.

Your ION, your Egg, your 3000psi cheap airsystem, some goggles (GET NEW LENS), back pack, pots the whole works, can be bought from the classifieds on this forum, for a fraction of its new price.
Paintball being what it is, people want the latest kit and as such, what they bought 10 Min's ago, is worth sod all when they come to sell it...make use of that.

This is the best paintball forum in the UK and some would say, on the whole Net, which is why you can find people like me here, as we only work with the best:D

Any questions? No? Then my son...go out into the digital world and seek ye out an Aladdin's cave of balling goodies...spend wisely, ask many questions and don't be a twat, we don't like it (no that you have)
yeah, what he said:)
