yeah pro ballers obviously get some help.

Lets take world cup Div 3.

Team of 5 entry $1350 ($270 pp)
PSP ID: $50
Paint cost: 3 cases per player as an average $150 pp paint

$470 / £300 pp before food, transport, accommodation and extra paint.

I doubt you will get any pro player actually give you exact figures for them etc, probably violates sponsorship agreements.

One of the problems with a Xball team (not pro) is you never see the same team at two events as they tend to use 'guests'

My own personal view is you sigh up to a team and play/belong to that team for the season:cool: We Rebellion do this and are great pals both on and off the field,Thus we have been together for a very long time and are always expanding (looking after the future of ball in Leicester):D

Its ALL about enjoying playing with your mates whatever level you play!!!!

I would agree.....there is nothing more frustrating than going out against a team full of ringers, Clan are exactly the same as you guys, yes we are not the top team in the UK, yes we will never make pro, but we play with our team, our players etc.....it feels better winning games with a team of friends who all drink, play and socialise together, than turning up with 2 Clan and 5 pro players winning and going whoop whoop!!!!!!

I wonder if the UK did decide to do it's own thing, to create the perfect format, league, tournament, if we would see a return of the US and European pro and top am teams once again gracing our events, I think if we build it they will come, it may take some time, but I think they will.....or we can continue down the path we are on at the moment and stay in this rut...maybe 4 big 7 man events per year....who knows....

The more I think about this, the more it makes sense .... unfortunately, it does not mean we will take this road; if anything, and speaking from experience, 22 years of it in this beloved sport of ours, it means we as a sport will continue to run with XBall because ..........fill in the blanks ....

I'd say so, I'm hoping for a PM, or better yet, Robbo to give us a ballpark ;)

I don't know what the pros get now; when I owned nexus; the guys pretty much had a free ticket for everything but I do know that things have changed and the support by sponsors has significantly contracted.

As for the other pro teams?
I think all of them have had their budgets cut drastically but whatever they get, it's more than the average baller who has to pay his way and it is this guy I am more concerned with.
The pros are an extremely minor percentage of tourney ballers and in the present climate are an indulgence that can be ill-afforded I'm afraid.

The industry of late have had a massive wake-up call and consequently refocused their financial attention toward areas that are more likely to provoke some return; if TV had arrived, then the pro team investment would have been been worth it, but it didn't and it ain't!
The harsh reality is, pro team support is way down the list for most of the industry but some of the players still think they are prima donnas, not they ever were, they just thought they were.

Everybody in our industry will eventually wake up to what needs to be done to put things right and the first positive step would be shelving XBall for another day and getting back to creating a fun, competitive environment that players and teams can enjoy, 7-man.

7 man in the off season

maybe there could be a trial run 7 man tourny in the winter off season.

7 man was the best format you did have a better sense of team and the games were more fun with players pulling off moves without doing stupid run thrus with 10 hits on them.

The PA had a good format until sideline coaching and ramping tried to make the 7 man into a kind of 7 man meets x ball.

I think many players new and retired would come back if it were fun and retired players does not mean old and out of shape just fed up with same old same old 5 man no choice paintball.

id do it in a heart beat but will the industry support it.

we recruit players from our woodland site to play in our scenario team and our 5 man (Rebellion) many will attend the 5 man training we do, but only a few think its that much fun. Most return to woods ball over 5 man when we explain cost against time on field and all the rest.

Some say 7 man was slow boring and games could get stale we even had a few drawn games that timed out a whole 7 mins with no result .

But if two teams drew chances were they are evenly matched whats wrong with that when you met again you had to re think your game or try harder to win, got you trying new moves etc.

It was a good trasition from woods to sup air no getting away from it.

I find 5 man boring especially as its all played on one field layout and thats all Millenium now whats to learn.
Was a time part of the game was being able to read a field to pick out lanes and moves / key bunkers etc.

We did lead the scene back in the day the yanks came here to play the best in the woods Mayhem Masters and then Hyperball why dont we start the next major Paintball Revolution?

Seven man was not as fast as X-ball for sure, but it was more Chess like, with teams probing and countering, you could lose 2-3 players but still defend well, and on many occasions, turn it around.

And there was the team performance required, as the bigger field demanded this. Bring back a vets league of 7-man, over 30's, and see what happens! You will have a group of (hopefully!!) financially able people prepared to go and play on a regular basis, I would get in the car a drive back every weekend for that!

But lets face it, the paint companies know where the money is, and it ain't the bright coloured ROF whores, its the guys in the woods with camo on, paying there money to the paint/gun/goggle makers, and not spending it on flights and hotels.

So do we go back to the Woodland scene and piggyback the rec guys for profile creation from tournamant players? JT seems to have done this first with Blues Crew, and with the .50 cal on the radar now, it could bring more of the other companies and their advertising budgets into that sector.

But I digress!! 7 man Vets league?

I am gonna get on the phone to a few people now! (Toye/Scutty/Stongle make sure your phones are on!)
