Fair point.

Nexus are lucky in that respect. Some days we blat ten tons of s***t at eachother, but we also do drills that use very little.I personaly do two evenings a week and will probably shot a box and1/2 at the very most. You can get quality training with the bills.

Instead of turning up and running around like an iraqi on the run,use your paint wisely.

I'm not talking about PRO TEAMS!!!

I'm talking about the players who are striving to play in the PRO bracket.

Ollie Lang wasn't born with an IR3 in his right hand and 300 cases of paint packed up his arse!!!!

PRO players started as we all did allbeit the learning curve is alot steeper in the modern game. He was once an average baller who got to where he is by spending his bucks and putting in the hours.

He proved his worth and is reaping his rewards in a PRO team.

Yes PRO teams get more sponsorship but the players in those teams have all trodden the same path to get there.

It all comes down to what YOU are prepared to put in to acheive YOUR goals!!!

'in ya face baby!'
re

agreed Jeff!!

the things that i find hard to accept are players that complain that they cannot afford to spend the money on Training paint, tournament entries, etc, etc. but when they do arrive and train/play they finish the evening off with £60 worth of food and beer! why? if they really (and i do mean really) want to be the best, or at least compte with the best, then channeling the monies they have better would enable them that extra session or event!

we in the UK have got to stop this hard done by attitude! as Jeff so rightly put it....knowone is born with a gun and 500paintballs in their hand, and also knowone is born with the kinds of skills and ability that the top teams (not all Americans) have. they dedicate their efforts and monies to become what they want, no destractions, just shear determination and focus! look at any successful team in any sport, not just paintball.

i bet also that most teams in the UK and Europe (except the successful ones, Nexus as an example) do not have an ultimate goal! if you do not know where you want to be in 1year, 5years, 10years, etc, then how can you plan the path to success?

just my 2p worth

I'll take that as a compliment ....I think....
As for Dot, as u so affectionately call her, I am taking Ledzy's advice and endeavouring to amass as many brownie points with 'er indoors' as I can
After all, this Nexus roller-coaster has a long way to go mate, as you well know, Yo, the 1120 crew live on in Paris

we all got to try harder. I see a few guys who are prepared to commit their whole life to paintball, surounded by a horde of weekend warriors, that want to treat it as a laugh. Total commitment is what it takes
In my opinion there's too many 'professinal punters' in the England tourney scene, they go off and join a team, and drag the rest of the team down. Loads of guys just want to go away, shoot their guns a bit, have some beers with the guys, and have a laugh.
Teams need to do what Pete is doing, start from scratch with committed individuals. Players that think 'they're good enough' don't have a chance. Everyone can always improve, fitness, game skills, investing more money into playing events, and training.
You can divide paintballers into two types, those who are on their way up, and those who are standing still, or on thier way down.

So, in answer to the question, teams have to be ruthlesss, pick the best players, poach them if you have to, and pick players who have total commitment to improving thier game. Support paintball whenever you can, support the grass roots teams, because that's where your next players will come from, and play, and train as much as you can!
I think Sam, it's a matter of finding the right people.

Merkin you have a very good point (if anyone was offended earlier by myself talking about the yanks im just joking around we all know Americans get stuff cheaper. But at the end of the day i have seen alot of Americans put their hearts into paintball and thats what makes them so good. so to all the "Yanks" out there good luck and give it your all if you train hard you deserve it. who knows paintball my advance in a few years giving the British boys a chance at cheaper gear meaning we could just compete on the same level as the Americans if we can afford to train more.
