Use it monthly to send/receive payments, the majority of our clients use and we've not had a problem yet.

Personally, I use it for everything and since getting the account a few years ago, have probably had 5-6k go through it.

I had no choice when I set up my website (See link below :D ) the bank would'nt give me a PDQ machine (Credit card terminal) on the grounds that I sold 'Firearms' (****ers). so it was paypal or no website :(

Have to say I've never had any problems with it, except that I've lost sale's due to people not wanting to use it, but as luck would have it Barcleys bank have promised me a PDQ in a few weeks.

So I guess what I'm saying Sam is if your planing on running some sort of web based company try Barcleys, they did'nt seem to care what I sold. :D

I guess that paintball is fairly niche and low value (like it or not, it is) so everybody here has been lucky and not targetted by card scammers.

However, I stand by my evaluation that "lucky" does not equate to "safe" - if you absolutely do need to use PayPal, try to obtain as much information from your purchasers as possible, including things like their IP addresses, time of transactions, etc - subscribe (or obtain otherwise ;)) to a fraud alert scheme which will notify you daily of new cards that have been reported as fraudulent, cross reference all delivery addresses with locations reported by their IP addresses, and ultimately, remember that if in doubt, it's easy and free to perform a chargeback. Just call the customer if necessary and ask them to confirm both registered and delivery addresses. If the IP lookup doesn't match I would be VERY suspicious.

PayPal will NOT be on your side if a card turns out to be used fraudulently, and if you've shipped the goods, that's the last you'll see of them. This is not a "my mate told me this happened once" story... it really happens...

Just doing a quick survey, if you could post below if you use pay pal then that would be great.

My reasons for asking this will become clearer in a few weeks;)

NOCHEX are an alternative to PayPal assuming you are going for a UK audience, but you would probably want to use them for a low volume site as you are a bit restricted to how much you can withdraw at a time.

look on the website and check whether they do or not i did say you'll have to confirm this. just going from word of mouth.

if it were free their profit could be made from the interest of holding your funds for x amount of time - everyone should know that about banking. an example of this is why banks take so long to tranfer money via cheques.

liam talking about cheques you got mine for the gloves?

answer to initial post, you probably find most people who use internet purchasing - especially ebay, will have paypal for some reason or other. intersted to know what project you got going to need this information, tell more...
