How many people do paypal?

Just doing a quick survey, if you could post below if you use pay pal then that would be great.

My reasons for asking this will become clearer in a few weeks;)

I won't use it, 3.5% and there's no real guarantee.

I avoid it on principle due to the way they take no responsibility whatsoever in the event of fraudulent activity.

I will pay by PayPal if absolutely necessary for a unique item, but if there's an alternative source of the item I'm after, EVEN IF IT'S MORE EXPENSIVE I will go elsewhere...

I pity the fools who run web-shops on it and have yet to discover exactly how evil PayPal are...

According to the current bumph, if a seller ships the goods to a buyers verified address (only possible in USA Canada & UK) then the seller is protected against chargeback, but I am sure there are some nasty t&c.

To be honest i would have to agree, from a buyers point of view it is much easier to ring up your credit card company if something goes wrong and get your money back than tackle PayPal directly.

PayPal is cheap and easy, but there are other better ways of doing it.

For private transactions, I like money order (or COD for real expensive items), and if you're buying from a site, there's millions of 'em who take credit/debit, so why hassle with the ones who only take PayPal?

The next step up from PayPal would be something like WorldPay
http://www.worldpay.co.uk/

But for small sites the charges are higher
£260 setup and about 4.5% from memory

Plus you will probably need to budget for a shopping cart application hosted on your webserver, or find a compatible free on on the net, or write one.

Best method would probably to get your own credit card merchant account with one of the major high street banks, but they usually like you to be a proper company and everything before they give you an account.
