How do we expect to get better as a nation

BAD TO THE BONE
So all the regional Leagues, 60 /100 teams could all play on the same day,at the same venue, with the same rules, say four times a year ?.
Nah, it would never catch on. :)
The media would not want to cover them, supporters and sponsors all ready have tight budgets. Towns do not want hoards of players decending on their towns using hotels and spending money for the weekend (Texas PSP). :(
The major drawback would be all the traveling :)
Are you seriously suggesting that southern teams would have to go to the badlands and northern ones to civilisation ? and if it were a truly National series we'd all have to go and visit Scotland or even Wales so as not infringe SIDS paintball rights :) although i do think an event on the channel islands would kinda be fun.
Mario please go and put your head down the toilet and pull the chain. Then and only then will you come to your senses. ''Stupid boy,Pike" :)

ah, i see you misunderstand my point.

However i'll counter with the CFOA. The same weekend as HB they pull in 129 teams to play their two day tournament. Why shouldn't teams travel? Because they'd bitch that they'd have to travel for more than 3 hours? Guys in America travel for 12+ hours just to play paintball. They have dedication, we dont.

But onto my explanation. When i said unite i meant it in a vareity of ways. One would be a rulebook used across the board, that is in line with a major series (NPPL, PSP whatever) Second would be to stop the infighting and politics and make a roadmap for where they all want paintball to be in 10 years. Third would be to admit that all of them are in organising to make money for their respective causes (teams, themselves, associations) Unite doesn't necessarily mean one big tournament four times a year. Even i know that none of them would jump on board because they'd lose their slice of a reasonably profitable pie. And no-one likes to lose money.

Your also confusing me with someone who thinks that the sport will explode exponentially and ill be able to live off of it. I couldn't think of a worse thing than paintball becoming massive, it would mean that i would have to start playing bowls to be doing something different.

There's plenty of steps to be taken which most likely never will be taken. It's sad, but its also life. It's also why i cant be arsed to play in this country anymore.

Oh and ralph, dont patronise me. I may not show it, but i know more about the politics and bull**** that goes on between organisers than many on these forums including your good self.

Taking it from your original posting, from which i did quote, i agree with everything that you said.
The distance's and dedication that others show in playing is to be applauded. A point i was trying to highlight by saying that Sid should have an event in Scotland and that teams should go up north / down south.
Even if the leagues didn't want to unite at first. They could all play their respective leagues at the same venue at the same time which would free up the calendar a bit.
It could also stimulate team competition because a team may want to know if they can compete against another team from a different league without having to make the jump to the Ms percieved standard.
I don't have a problem with people making money from tournaments if they are giving value for money, which some of them must be doing up to a point, as teams are still attending. Having said that, it could be said that the teams are getting what they deserve.
As for anyone earning money from playing. I don't think that i've met anyone who thinks that it's ever going to happen. Not even with the advent of Supair fields and arena paintball, has TV shown any real interest and that's where the money would have to come from.In anycase that's light years away from getting the ball rolling, which is where this thread started.

I agree with you that there are many steps that could be taken to improve/unify paintball in the UK (UK for sids benefit :) ) that will never be taken. All i was saying was that this could be one possible scenario that somebody could work on, if everyone decided to co-operate.

Everything i wrote was slightly tongue in cheek, thats why i used the smileys.
I was not being patronising towards you in anyway shape or form, far, far, far from it.
I may not know who is actually shagging who (and i don't care) at the moment in the paintball world but i do know that for such a small community such incest cannot be good. Which i why i have never taken up any options that have been offered to me to get involved with the paintball Biz.
