Yeah.

If every paintballer in the UK bought from British retailers and suppliers for a month, or even just for their next 2 purchases, then there would probably be a doubling of sales in the UK of paintball stuff!

Not saying that foreign purchasing is a bad thing of course, just that it'd be a nice thing to support your local dealer... (I like shiny new imports as much as the next player).

To answer the thread topic, you are breaking the law trying to avoid taxation.

Should your shipper wish to lie about the contents of the package regardless of "Gift" status, you will be charged around 22% of the retail price of the goods, should customs realise what the sender of the goods has tried to do.

The only way to be exempt is to hope customs don't realise the actual cost and status of the incoming goods.

well, if its going from a private seller, then there will not be any distinct marks that show that its shipped as a sale not gift...
Therfor, even if the customs do realise its suspicious, it would be difficult to prove it wasnt a gift...
also,22% to be charged is a lot less than 30% when you are spending $500
+its always worked for me:D

It is normal business practice to include an invoice for the included items.

As above, should your seller wish to disclude this from the package it is still the UK resident who will pay for the import tax.

Irellevent of the nature of the goods.

Heya, i'm buying a nightkast autococker from the us (2nd hand) and I want to know how to get past income tax.
If you are buying 2nd hand from the US then the total cost (inc P+P and 25% customs fee) of your marker should still be cheaper than if you bought it here 2nd Hand. If not then it's a waste of time, money and effort

Guys buying British is fine but the guy is buying something he likes which is not British and he possibly cannot get over here within his budget.

Id like to know how many of you buy british brigade spent a fortune in Paris, Amsterdam etc buying bits for your respective markers knowing full well it's cheaper there than in the UK

Right...

If there is no stated "Specific Item Code" on the parcel, identifying its contents and therefore the amount of Duty payable (3.2% for markers 2.7% for bolt on's), it will be charged at the flat rate, which is 7%.

If the parcel is marked as $500 value...plus say $40 for shipping, you will pay duty on $540.

$540 is roughly £307...

Duty and VAT will total 24.5%...£75.22

Also...the UK shipping agent, being Parcel force or whoever, will also add a collection fee...£13 give or take a bit

So..your Nightcast cocker, will cost you around £395 and 22 pence.
