The Pro Tour is a seperate event NORMALLY!!!.....but.....
this was an OPEN event and the teams payed entry fees. Same as HG3 teams. The Pro Tour is designed to showcase top level paintball and to attract spectators etc to the events that host it. Its give and take mate. Pro Tour didnt get any money out of the entrance and therefore was not in a position to give prizes etc.

This was all discussed prior to the event and yet when it came to the presentation it was as if the Tour never happened.

Pro Tour is non profit making and relys on large amounts of sponsorship in order to operate. It is trying to improve the aspirations of UK teams and UK Paintball. Its not a showboat for Pro Teams, it should be where any commited team should be playing next season. As such, Pro Tour requires the support of the leagues and events that Pro Tour supports.

As far as the judging go's.

...yes flip flops and Inspector gadget macs shouldnt have been worn and i think that Campaign Promotions missed a beat on that one.

...biased judging? - everyone has there own opinion and everyone who has commented believes they saw what they saw...but just to fill you in.
Due to the lack of good judges for the Pro Tour proper, Campaign have played AND judged some of the events and they have received no complaints from any of the teams on the tour. Considering they could do themselves alot of favours by judging there competitors harshly, i think it shows professionalism and that they are not the biased and lazy judges they are being made out to be.

As far as patting a player on the back for playing well......it may not look unbiased but if they call the right calls and pull people when they should....whats the problem?!!!?

I have congratulated many teams and players when i have been judging but that doesnt mean i gave them any favours.

I find it a bit disheartening that 3/4 kids who played out of their skins for SPOD and played some good ball are being berated as a team that received preferential treatment from the judges. Is this the way to get kids into pro ball???

I think not.

mmmm! How can a ref run over the field when half of them where lying down on the floor for the games (if you were that tired either go to bed earlier or get some pro plus. I appreciate this at the very beginning but not for no longer than 30seconds into a game, from then on they should be in positions to view as much as they can and to what’s going on! I thought a small number of the judges where actually seen to be doing a professional job to which what was asked off them. However without naming name's
how many events have you ever played in the public eye and seen judges larking about ,wearing non reffing extra's such as Mac's (must be a city slicker but where was his briefcase) carrying things in their hands the rake(was this to drag players out of their bunkers :D as well as spent paintballs).
Reffing or judging should be done with out any animosity at all be the players are friends or enemies.

If you like I manage to watch some to the HG3 other fields I don’t recall seeing any of the above. These reffs took their job seriously.

As for the other incidents such as HPG's surely I hope that those involved realize this could have been reported to the local boys in blue. (Suggestion to you replace what you took and apologise on this board to all to know your scum! If you can steal from fellow ballers your the lowest of the low.

[/B]
What exactly are you suggesting here? Are you suggesting that the judges should be standing up in the middle of the field instead of lying down so they can run a bit faster? Or are you suggesting that the judges should all be standing at the edge of the field?
I think you are a bit confused as to why the judges lay down on the field? Don't tell me you have never seen other judges lay down at any other events?

How can the refs run over the field when half of them were lying down? Well... simple... they push themselves up with their hands and use their legs to then stand up and run. Does that answer your stupid question?

As to what the refs were wearing, i am not going to defend them, but don't tell me you have never seen other refs wearing stupid hats or troussers? Surely what they are wearing should not have much of an impact on their concentration and ability? It only becomes a problem when calls have been made against other teams they do not agree with and therefore it automatically means that because the ref is wearing a particularly stupid item of clothing he obviously cannot ref. Hmmm.

Jeff, most comments you made here are fair points. BUT:

1. Yes, we paid for the entry. But did we get value for money? NO

2. If the Marshals had been more "professional" in the way they handled the games. All this would never been raised.

3. Yes, they played wicked ball and won. But again you can understand the other teams that were present and saw the way the Marshals did act.

You cannot blame people to see it the way they do. I couldn't care less who won the ProTour. Tigers, Quake, ROF, DOA, doesn't bother me. All good teams which we get along with. ROF is sponsored by us. All people asked for is that a Marshals so their job. Regardless who is on the pitch.

I am not implementing that SPOD did cheat or anything like that at all. As said before they played really well. There is only the issue that the Marshals have been totally incompetent.

Why not just put all this behind us?! It happened it is over we all have learnt from it (I hope)!

Lets move on to new and better things, go back on the pitch and shoot some fools!!!

Take it easy!

SPOD...well done guys!

Ok, I can see what you are saying and I fully understand why we have marshals, but has anyone noticed that after every tournament when the "marshals were terrible" thread is started (we might as well just start it pre-event), nobody stops and says "the cheating was terrible" or similar? When did it stop being a player's duty to check and call themselves out and play by the rules, and become the marshals duty to physicaly pull players out or threaten them until they leave the field?

How about all players look at what other players are doing and taking issue with that a little more. When I judge I will always try not to interupt the flow of the game unless absolutely required, and running around the field is NOT a good thing. If there were a way that all judges could stay in one place, observe and only help out when required then the players could get on with playing.

If you are going to accuse someone of cheating, just do it, dont shoot (pun) the refs first for not being on it quick enough, I'm certain they hate cheating as much as any of us.

I'd just like to add some more Quake thanks to the pot :)

We managed to play 26 games over the weekend, which was well over twise the amount we would play at a normal event, and we paid the same as we would for a normal event, can't complain about game time! Altho we did half shoot a lot of paint! :D
Next time I think we'll try to avoid losing the first match, if makes getting to the finals a very long process :p

All the teams we played against fought really hard and none of the games were push overs, it was all really good hard ball. I'd like to personally thank Pinky for his advice at the start of the weekend after we lost 3-0 to SPOD. It came back and bit him on the ass on Sunday but he was a great help and all the Tigers were really nice all weekend. :)

I'd also like to thank the marshalls for their work over the weekend, I can't call them lazy as I personally called for one of them to check a guy in the back corner when he was stood next to me on the 50 and he went to do it. Through plenty of lanes! Whenever we asked for a marshal to blow a bunker up or sort the field out it was done as soon as they could manage it, they worked bloody hard just as marshalls normally do. They made bad calls but everyone suffers from that... they are only human, apart from Kyle, I think he's half monkey or something. ;)

I'd also like to thank our pit crew, damn you did a good job over the whole weekend, only 2 of you during the day on saturday with a lil help on the sunday from a few others... good girls! :)They made it happen just as much as we did!
Also a big up to my team mates who played their little hearts out, especially Jurgs who was broken for the final two matches but managed to keep going despite coughing up blood.... crazy fool!

Then there comes SPOD, thanks for a great game on Sunday, after spanking us on Saturday we took the first two games on Sunday, but they sucked it up and came straight back at us for the final 3... well played guys! :D

Much Love.... Mr S. :D

Looking in from the out side

Hi and well thanks the pro tour is “something else” to watch when you are playing NSPL on the other side of the fence.

I’m not going to comment on the reefing as I’m new ( nice rain coat) but I have to say you pro boys and girls are clean when it comes to what we the public and fans see.

All except when a 10 year old boy sees a TIGER lit up leaving the field and then some?

On our side we had our fair share of doggy calls AND doggy play, and some distressful behaviour too, coming out of the dead box and attacking other players.

Is there a problem with the Marshalling or is this a Sunday league football thing ( the ref is an a s s h o l e or you love him) or paintball.

What is the solution sponsored Marshals all wearing DYE Jackets!

I’d like to thank the London Tigers for some spot on Public Relations work, it would be nice if some of the other pro teams mixed at matches with us at the lower.
We all look up to you lot and want to be where you are.
