Manike, I'm not arguing in the least that the Halo is a better made and faster feeding hopper. It is.
However, from my experience of 3 different IR3's, 2 different Speeds, 1 Impulse and 2 seperate Halo B's (with TE software), not once did I get through a hopper full of paint without at least 2/3 breech bursts. I think that experience would be remarkable if it was simply bad luck??
For some people breech bursts are no biggie, they are happy to squeegie out and continue, further more people are lucky and the combo works fine (not seen it first hand but many people say so, and I have no reason to doubt them, yourself included) for example the Viking example I gave.
However, my point is, that if you want zero hassles with your Speed, the best option IS the Evo II, simply because it works - no chops, no drama. Maybe not as fast as the Halo, but I have never outshot my y-board Evo II and realistically, in a game environment, I don't think many others would either. Frazer from WDP even told me directly that they don't rate the Halo/Angel combi as it has inherent design problems. When I see with my own eyes a Halo and Speed working together faultlessly maybe I will change my mind.
But until them, I don't want to spend hours trouble shooting a hopper/marker combi, of course I am willing to try any manner of quick fixes (e.g. altering dwell, even oiling the belt of the Halo) but when it comes to buying harder detents etc I think it starts to become a little silly.
I stand by what I said. I think the y-board Evo II is plenty fast enough for a Speed and I also think it's a better choice than the Halo due to the points I've mentioned.
Have you personally tried a Halo B on a Speed?
