Help from french people needed...

OK, I'll end this now...

You Brits - and certainly tha vast majority of young Brit 'ballers - desperately want to be American.

Why do I say this?

Just read tha posts from tha Brits - it's all 'dude' this and 'bro' that...desperately trying to grasp an American identity cos they don't like their own.

Tha evidence is all-around you, just look...

Thankyou and goodnight.

But here's the real deal: I admit that many of our climatically challenged cousins do have a wonderfully witty command of the language. Educated British humor does tend to be more cerebral (subjective opinion, I know). But I think it is remarkable that I can talk to the most backwoods redneck, the most golden-toothed gangsta or the Bronxiest Bronxite and understand what they're saying. I can walk up and have an intelligent English conversation with almost anyone in Scandanavia or the Netherlands. But try that in, say, Glasgow. It is like trying to communicate with someone from Mars! Same's true for certain parts of London and definitely in northern parts of England. The people don't even make the slightest effort to normalize their way of speaking. And I'm not talking about jargon or slang. They may be saying the same words but it is a whole different language. Whaddup wid that?

What French women do you know? I can vouch neither of the above are true. I bet you think they all cycle wearing a beret and string of onions whilst nibbling on frogs legs too!

Want to spell things a different way go ahead but don't call it English if you do :)

In Amerish you may opt to call a boot a trunk but in English it's still a boot ;)

As for the superiority of American teams. I think the fact that US paintballers outnumber us better than 20-1 has more to do with that than anything else. Mere numerically superiority does not mean moral ascendency

No it's short for "Petroleum Distillate" although most people don't know it even here as the proper phrase went out of usage about a century back

How am I doing so far :D
How many of you can still read and understand Chaucer as he wrote his Canterbury Tales? He'd probably make the same points to you you're trying on me.
Get with the 'program' or get left in the dust.

Pball ain't about moral ascendancy, it's about shootin' fools. So tell me who is in the deadbox (whilst you remove my boot from you arse) :D

And Haley thinks you've scored a point? Hahahahahahaha Maybe he should either learn to read or to count. He can't even get his quotes right and last time I checked Britain was part of Western civilization.

And for Talleyrand "civilization" no doubt was that illustrious period in British history when you were out and about smiting various aboriginal people of color around the globe? :D :p

Talleyrand was a French Prime Minister so probably didn't think that no.

Anyway there's nothing wrong with a little smiting ;)

I can end this right here, right now:

A good night down the pub will settle this.

The fact that it's pints will scupper the chances of the French, with their small glasses of stella which is generally sipped, rather than drunk.

And the fact that it's real Beer (rather than making love in a canoe ;) ) will scupper the Americans.

Oh, and TJ, that thing about Brits using "Dude" and "bro" too much? Kot and Pettle.... ;)
